Thanks all for the ride tonight - I definitely struggled to gauge the pace/effort and did some yo-yoing. Shall look to sign up in future weeks too.

Thanks for last night guys!

I found it an interesting experience:

Felt I worked harder than I did
Probably caused the poor start - I took setting off gently a little too literally
Not sure if you could hear me on the voice app thingy?
I found it difficult to gauge effort too = although this was my first Zwift group ride

Might try it again soon!

Cheers
Alastair

I might be up for this as long as COVID doesn't get me (it's finally hit our house...)
Is there a "provisional" option?

There's a maybe option on the sign-up sheet, as much by way of a test to see if it's little folks can, I've popped your name on the bottom and put you down as a massive.

Feel free to edit that mind, first of robbo's two links above.

Is there anything I need to do on WTRL?
I'm registered on there but not ever used it!

As long as you are registered at WTRL @sturdylad (and your account there linked to your zwift account) there's nothing more to do. I'll post an entry link, tomorrow probably, and when you click it is uses your WTRL account to attach you to the team and automatically enters you in the zwift event.

Any more takers?

Interesting course this week - only one very minor hill and a downhill start!

So far all OK for me to join, still avoiding the lurgy!
It will probably take me a few events to get my TT head on, I've never done one on Zwift and it's probably 3 years since I stopped racing TT on the road

I wouldn't worry, if you think there's a swing to get into you're already better than the rest of us 😂

I'd also point to 'raced' rather than 'completed' as an indicator too!

Turns out my struggles in the second race on Tuesday were due to Covid. So I'm probably out for a couple of weeks

Start delay is a whopping 12.5 mins. In the pen by 19:43 and off at 19:57:30

Click the link @sturdylad! And scroll up, past Brian's bee lady, for all the practical info you need about the start etc.

That's two big delays in a row, I do wonder sometimes how they arrive at them.

It is a bit rubbish isnt it! I will remember my stop watch for tonight and brush up on my 'encouragement' skills.

See you on the start line. I have downloaded GP Llama's ultimate warm up so I should be well prepared!

That's a pain - both @yanboss and the start delay. Take it easy Ian and don't be tempted to push your recovery too quickly. I found you have days when you feel you're over it, then you're knackered the next. Anyone know how @phil56 is getting on?

I did message Phil yesterday, not great but improving is I think how it's best summed up. (On the scale of how things could be that's to say not too bad either as I understand it).

He may be along to answer for himself in due course mind as you've paged him and being as I'm a married man I've little enough experience of answering for myself, let alone someone else so the above could all be utterly inaccurate.

Hi Guys, @Dangeourbrain has it spot on - I'm improving every day. Still a little fatigued and chesty, but well on the way to recovery. Have fun tonight - I really miss it!

Thanks guys, pretty mild symptoms on the scale. But definitely only good for lying in a heap on the sofa this evening. Hope things keep improving quickly Phil.

Have a good one

@phil56. Don't worry @robbo1234biking will keep the DS seat warm and I've heard he's been reading up on 'motivational' techniques. Whatever that means 😂

Signed up successfully: @dangeourbrain, @slowpuncheur, @robbo1234biking, @scaredypantsm, @wozza1

Also expected (maybe?) @sturdylad - click here https://www.wtrl.racing/RacePass/?id=RUwwbGZWZnQwRkt2VEYxYldwUk9mdz09

Two places still available if anyone wants them.

It's an excellent TTT course. (and weirdly, powerups seem to be switched on?)

OK so I clicked the link and signed in to WTRL.
Is there anything else I need to do? I did the copy race pass thing but not sure what to do with it!
At work now so doing it on my phone, not the laptop I will use tonight...

I will be online in plenty of time tonight to allow time to sort stuff like this!

That should be all you need to do I think (it's all I do).

If you're running companion on the same phone just check your showing as attending in "your events"

Yep @sturdylad you are in succesfully. Just make sure you are clear (ish) on how the event works. It is odd. I'll paste my blurb here...

– ride a road bike in-game (NOT a TT bike. You need the draft!). dress up as a bumblebee (again, in-game).
– comms will be via discord. The STW server is here: https://discord.gg/B8aAkFtj and the TTT voice channel is over on the left. If you can’t make yourself heard, just listen. It can work without, but it’s complicated…
– this is the MOST IMPORTANT BIT! The start is basically a workaround. You must be in the pen for the event start time (19:43). But each team has its own team start time. Once the countdown hits zero you MUST NOT GO! Instead, sit tight for the team’s start delay, which tonight is 12.5 minutes. Don’t move. Don’t pedal. Don’t start. Don’t leave the pen until 12.5 minutes have passed. THEN you can start. There will be timekeeping and a countdown over discord.
– there’s no pressure to ride on the front (“pull”), or win the event etc. Sit in, learn the ropes, see how the team works together.
@robbo1234biking will run things on the road. so if in doubt, follow him or whatever he says!

If there are more questions, just ask and they’ll be answered quickly.

Good luck tonight!

All, in only my second week I'm pulling out, apologies. Work has taken over today, and I won't be near my bike in time.

Best of luck, smash it!

A bit late to the party, but I’ve just signed up, on the assumption I’m back and ready. Don’t wait for me if I’m not in the pen though!

Is the bumble Bee costume in the kit section of your garage once you're in the pen or something?

Ah, sorry to robbo then !

was quite a step up from the last couple I've done - I'd not have bet on me finishing if I'd know what the average would be
