Same here, oI only seem to be able to hold a pace when going balls out!!

Great ride! I saw zero bantz tho 😟 do they pop up on the iPad app or only on the companion app (can’t use that at the mo for technical reasons!)

Weeksy can you see how far back the group
With Mooman, P.Alcock and myself was? (They finished ahead of me as I couldn’t go with them when they pushed on after 40 mins)

The Bantz appeared on my iPad app, but first ride they didn’t, this ride they did - I didn’t do anything differently.

Was good that...

Steve I can't thank you enough for starting this.. I'm now inspired to get back riding and get some fitness back!

I've nearly cycled more in a week this week (155km) than I did in total last year (264km)

🙂

I’m like Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump. I just surge through because I I don’t back off quickly enough and then I’m like ‘WTF is everyone’ 🙂

Thanks for that, need to work at my group riding, i just couldnt seem to establish the same rythem no matter what I did so clipped off the front, put in a few digs with about 10mins to go then dropped my phone!!

I wondered where you’d gone. There were 4 of us, then suddenly there was only 3 (Benman and Peesbee I think).  The other two dropped me on the last climb. I thought I might get one of them back but didn’t have it in the end.

Most fun I’ve had on Zwift tho. Thanks Steve for setting it up and somehow keeping an unruly group of mostly MTBers together!

Bah, missed this again.  Mind you 7pm is a bad time for me as I’m generally doing a family dinner now we can as we’re all in at the same time.

My Zwift time seems to be the 9-10 pm slot at the moment !

You all listen well and at least try and keep together which is great.

Weds then I guess lads, same time preferred?

Level, send me your address via message mate along with your weight.

There's some fast forum boys for sure.

On Weds I won't be doing a lunch ride on the G 160 this time!!!!

Yeah when Benman and Peesbee rocked off up that last climb at 5.5w/kg. I ordered myself a virtual plate to hand my arse to 😉

7pm works for me, but both my kids can fend for themselves/are feral so whatever works for those with family responsibilities.

Yep 7pm Wednesday works for me. I enjoyed this a lot. Kind of didn't pay close enough attention to the race pace thing, and sat up a bit after the start/finish line. I almost caught up in the tunnel but couldn't catch the draft properly. Next time though...

I put in two very short 500w digs and they just cruised back up to me!

You're a bad man.
550watts for a minute to "win" the sprint to then be told I have to get back on to ride tempo then you just sat up and left me chewing my own legs off to stay in the group.

No idea where everyone was, I was getting my legs ripped off by Mooman and P.Alcock, 249 watts average, that was tough!

I had no idea where I was in the group at start. I think we were off the front of the group .. Alcock and I finished on 40.6km on the hour; what did the Weeksy group finish on?

wOOdster - it was a nice little session. When we were at about 40 mins I could see the powerful rider coming up behind us pushing over 300w with only 3km in his legs so assumed (correctly) he would be keeping it going for at least another 5km (correct again) .. so as we went past a group I pushed on to get on his wheel expecting you and Alcock would likely get stuck in a slow draft of the group ... just trying to put little dents in yous; good fun!

Totally new to Zwift but tried a C race last night and most of the top 5 were averaging around 3.7-3.8w/kg. Is this normal...? I'll give B a go next time, but by this measure, most of the folk in there will be 4+?!

First lap was fun trying to drag people back on while the bunch was going briskly.
Doubt I'll be in for Wednesday.

Yeah I saw that and decided not to bother 🙂

I’ve not raced @benman but that sounds very high. I thought C topped out at about 3.2?

First time I've managed to catch one of these. Really enjoyed it so big thank you Weeksy for getting them going. I can see why Zwift is so popular.

I upped my ftp to 222w according to Zwift, no idea what that means tbh. Weekey kept asking what our max heart rate was, I dont have a monitor, but going by feel I reckon about 240 000.

Thanks for Wednesday's invite weeksy, was going to ride tonight then wasn't.... My thighs are dead from kneeling on the bathroom floor all day yesterday plumbing! Hopefully they recover tomorrow and I can have a ride.

Top fun ride, Weeksy. Cant believe that you got everyone together through the Volcano and kept us all in check until the off, top work.

Those have been two of the closest grouped rides I've ever done on Zwift.

Loving the concept of 300W tempo, I tried hard a couple of times through the tunnel to get back on and died 🙁

Can't wait for the next one. STW group rides - they rock.

40.49 Kms for me (25.16 miles) at an average of 25mph.
Benman, if in a C race the guys finish at 3.5 they get moved up to B....but they don’t have to move up and can still race in C races.
I’m a lower end B, 260 ftp and 69kgs. I get spanked in the Bs but average about 3.6 w/kg for an hour, tonight’s was about 3.5w/kg for an hour. For me it’s the multiple digs people put in, I’m fine riding at FTP, but as soon as Mooman put in some big digs I couldn’t keep up. Only up to about 450 watts type digs, but it’s the lack of recovery between them that does me in.

Really enjoyed it once again, cheers Weeksy! Went too early on the sprint but matched my pb 1min power so happy with that. Managed to hang onto a group of 3 or 4 up front for the "tempo" until my legs fell off, decent work out 🙂

Is it possible to view data from the ride on the Zwift platform or do you need to access it elsewhere? Can't remember seeing any messages either, probably because I was wiping the sweat from my eyes!

@w00dster thanks for the pointers. I'm 270W at around 67kg (according to Sufferfest), so sounds like I should be in with the lower end B's getting a trouncing 🙂

That was tricky as I had to keep doing 350w to get on the front, then with drafting I kept getting shoved back, so another 350w to get ahead, on the little hill up to where I unleshed you all I was 350w for 30s and was dead before the sprint.
I did try, but it wasn't happening.

Ah, ha! That was hilarious!

I forgot to get Spotify going, was mincing through playlists & looked up to see everyone had disappeared. Then turned myself inside out to get back to the group..

robbo1234biking

Wasn’t working properly for me. I couldn’t see anyone else so dropped out and tried to rejoin but it would t work with group chat. Rode with stumpy for a bit but was having to do silly watts to even keep up.

I caught Robbo (R) up & I think we were trying to work together to catch up, but it was hard going & then all of a sudden he disappeared.
Eventually caught up, but was ruined.

I completely misunderstood the race - I thought it was to the end of the hour, so when you all shot off I shat myself. Sped up to what I thought was a barely sustainable pace, but you were all gone - bit embarassing that, to be honest!

It's all good though - I enjoy the challenge & it definitely adds a touch more motivation.

Great fun that lads, did 50km tonight without really noticing, was just reading the messages most the time. Why can't all zwift group rides be like this??

Will try to make Wednesday if I can but I have some work commitments coming up which may keep me busy. Weeksy if you don't mind I'll accept and cancel later if I can't make it, hope that's ok.
Weekends might be best for me from now on.

Let's keep this going, it's a great laugh and getting me fitter!

Stumpy- I kept trying to take turns at the front but couldn’t get in front of you! I was doing 250 - 280w trying to get on and went up to 350 at points but my ftp is 253 w so I was just going to hard to carry on. As messaging wasn’t working for me I struggled to know what was going on and I had every rider on the bar so was trying to watch for STW rags or bumblebees!

Posted 56 minutes ago

I just snuck in under the Cat D limit for the first two races of the Tour of Watopia then got promoted/disqualified in the 3rd (whichever way you want to look at it) before doing the last two races as Cat C.

I can put down a decent amount of watts but on the climbs 100kg+ is never going to be great!

Weirdly for the first time in these events I had other riders on the list too, usually just see the greens. Not today though.

I see everyone but the meet-up group in green. It’s helpful and I’m starting to recognise the names. Also useful to look at the map and see where everyone is.

Normally that’s weeksy coming through the pack like a shark through a shoal of minnows 🙂

I should be good for Wednesday.

Tonight was pretty hard for me. Needed a wheel a couple of times but once back in the group I was doing ok... Then there was the sprint to the line. Me being me I stopped sprinting about 100m early as I thought I'd passed the line then realised the big balloon loop was actually there but hadn't popped up on screen yet. Anyway....got to the line and totally forgot I still had to carry on pedalling,I was beasted.Lol

Carried on riding but couldn't catch the group up so carried on freeriding and finished 3 laps.

Managed 676 watts in the sprint which is good for me, averaged 220 watts and hit 181hr...

So basically it turned into a race...for me anyway... In which I think I came last.Lol 😆

Thanks weeksy and all, was a good laugh. Hard work but thoroughly enjoyed it!
