Yeah it worked out ok, thought I would suffer going up but didn't feel too bad. Even had enough energy to go through the flats afterwards.

Cheers guys, was a good start to the weekend and nice to see Paul and Shaun on the weekend rides.

That was good thanks all, I did some other stuff then Tick Tock and the two shortest routes from London and Yorkshire rounded out at just over 40 miles and it’s only just 11am. Good start to the weekend enjoyed the climb and the route it’s a good one.

Well you have my respect gents. I rolled over at 7am and had a nice lie in. I'm about in the morning for a couple of hours if anyone wants to join me. I'll check what I've got left to do for the badges and post an invite if you're interested.

I'm considering doing the Fondo ride at 9am but will probably be the shorter one due to time available. Not 100%...depends on red wine indulgence and how velcro the duvet is tomorrow morning 🤣

I'm just looking at that @Oopnorth. I might sign up for the long one but as usual Zwift is a bit light on the details (or at least hides them well!). Any idea what the long route actually is?

A/B/C are gran/medio/bambino fondo respectively.

@@slowpuncheur Think short one includes volcano, hilly KOM maybe both directions plus out to the jungle.

Medium includes the Epic KOM and long one not sure...but guessing you may do jungle again or more KOM.

Thanks for the ride chaps.

I opted for a race around London Loop, can’t believe I havent done that one yet, I didn’t really intend to race properly but as usual got carried away. Rapid start with all CATS together but settled down before the climb up Box Hill. set a PB up the box and then expected a flat finish but little did I know it was a two lap race. Beat the first PB by a second in an effort to stay with my group.

So done by 10am with 45miles and 3700ft in the tank.

Might do the 8.02 Krt/kiss endurance ride tomorrow morning unless something else comes up.

Thanks @Oopnorth. Nowt on ZP yet. A bit more Zwift randomness. I wish they'd spend money on refining their UI before new courses or rowing. I'll find out in the morning!

It's a magical mystery tour! You wont know what is coming until you hit it 🙈🙈

Well done Kirky, some effort after the earlier ride with us. I was going to go over the titans after the flats but thought better of it, flashbacks from Tuesdays pain...

Thanks @mossimus. That really useful. Looks a good route that. I *think* it avoids radio tower finish but hard to tell.

Sorry @slowpuncheur, I thought you couldn't even see the route names.

Cat A/long is like @mossimus said (and ends at the top of the Epic, doesn't go up to radio tower): https://zwiftinsider.com/route/gran-fondo/
Cat B/medium is same finish, same roads, but takes shorter way with less repetition to the Epic https://zwiftinsider.com/route/medio-fondo/
Cat C/short is volcano top finish https://zwiftinsider.com/route/bambino-fondo/

(I think that unlike @robbo1234biking's superior planning these end right at the KOM line of their respective climbs, which means it's hit or miss whether zwiftpower will pick up the finish segments. Not that this matters at the end of a fondo...)

Crazy - I have had 2 days of the bike! Not getting up early tomorrow - Chinese and beer tonight. Depending on weather I might do one of the shorter fondos tomorrow afternoon at 2 but no guarantees! Glad you all had a good ride this morning.

Can’t do 9 unless the weather is rubbish as out with the family at 10 so wouldn’t get it done in time. If we decide not to go though I will join you

Well I'm going to try a quick ride in the morning, probably fire and ice to see if my turbo holds. Seems my issue might be zwift recognises the power metre function as three different units, only one of which has controllable resistance, despite it connecting to that as a separate device in theory.

@kirky72 Good to see you this morning on the Fondo John...good to ride with you, well at least until the jungle when I lost you when I changed the bike but saw you later on up the volcano. Gained about 70 places in the jungle but then lost 20 on the way up the volcano to the lighter riders.

Finished around 355 on the road, a good ride though, enjoyed it.

Cheers Craig. I missed my first option for the morn8mg which was a endurance type ride, didn’t make the start time. So just ticked of a french route that I hadn’t done.

Then just jumped onto the first large group ride I could find that wasn’t mega tough. Did well to spot each other amongst 1500 riders.

I took it steady just moving back and forth in the large field, I was 660th when I asked I asked where you were and managed to gain 200 place to catch up to you up the KOM. Finished 201st so gained a lot of places through the jungle and finished pretty strongly up the volcano. Not to shabby as it was approaching 60 miles for the morning.

I carried on bimbling around the volcano area to try and edge into the next level, I had like a 1/100th of mm left after the ride which agonisingly still took another 5 miles to fill. Doesn’t it go so slow at the end of the bar, especially in these mid 30 levels?

I’m not quite sure if anything worthwhile frame or wheel wise as opened up for purchase, will check it next time.

It was a real gift ride for me today...got the Fondo Jersey, levelled up to 32 and got the Yorkshire cap, which I'll now be wearing (rude not to) and then I got the pinarello dogma for the tour of Italy...wierd it gives you it at 90% completion.

Oh I know it's not a yorkshire cap but to me it is 🤣🤣

Got on a gp ride this morning and boxed the pretzel off, time passed pretty easy.

Got the 100kph badge coming off the radio mast which was good as I've tried it a couple of times and not managed. I'm still not getting the right timing for it though as surely it shouldn't be too hard at my weight, on that gradient, but it still felt like a massive dig. Was a vegan gp ride and all these skinny blokes saying they crushed 105, 110 no bother. I guess a powerup must take the edge off it, or coming through the group just right (think I was a bit in advance).

Which pretzel was it Garry?

I've still not got the 100kph badge yet. They say you need the aero PU to use on the way down from the tower. I almost got it down Ventoux once, got to 98kph and wished I'd just added a bit more grunt.

Did the short fondo this afternoon. I got in the pen nice and early but wife had an appointment (she is a beautician and works out of the spare room) today and i was hoping it would be finished before the start. Alas it wasnt so I waited in the pen a couple of mins after that start and it still hadnt finished so I set of at a slow pace to stay quiet. Didnt go above 200w for the first 30 mins apart from the climbs I think when a slow cadence meant I could keep the turbo quiet.

Started of 1470 out of 1500. When I set of I set myself a target of getting to 1000. By the time we hit the jungle I was up to 1080.I switched to the MTB and got up to 830 by the time we left the jungle. Bottom of the Volcano climb I was 800 and got up to 725 by the end of the climb.

Was a good workout though and a new PB up the Volcano apparently!

That was the basic pretzel @oopnorth. I have the mega and the PRL left to do out of the long routes.

Well done @robbo1234biking, good workout to get up the positions, at least there is nothing too taxing on that Bambino fondo.

Hope you are ready for another workout tomorrow and our legs are not too tired.

Good riding all. I was expecting to see @robbo1234biking on the Medio Fondo at 2pm but see u did the other one. I did the exact opposite to Robbo. Started off too hot. Stayed with a fast group in 90-odd place and PBd the KoM and the volcano. I was writing cheques my legs couldn't cash though and after a slog through the jungle and a whiz around the lowlands, the wheels properly fell off on the Epic. Missing lunch didn't help but I grovelled up and held onto 195th place. Just under 700 riders though. Not as many as the earlier rides. I'm bushed.

Yeh I didn’t have time for that today @slowpuncheur

@oopnorth I will be fine for the morning. The workout isn’t hard to start - should be manageable!

@piemonster. It is just a custom workout that I put together. Just to get a bit of momentum before the Xmas excesses take over! You can do any workout at the same time if you want though - rubber band is on so it’s about encouraging each other to turn up really!

If you want the workout pm me your email and I will send it over. I have added you on to the invite.

Cheers, invite is through but the companion app is not playing ball.

I should be there tomorrow, I’ve a long Fell/Hill Run Wednesday so probably just tomorrow.

@piemonster we usually do different workouts but keep the band on so we stay together, it often results in one of us sprinting like a loon whilst the others are doing a rest period 🤣🤣🙈

In this case myself and Robbo will be doing the same one (hopefully) so it won't make a difference if you do your own workout or join us. Like Rob says just tag along, the more the merrier. The band means you can make it as hard or easy as you like.

@oopnorth Crack on without me this morning.

Woke up to a very clear need for a rest day so I’ll just take the dog for a walk and physio/pilates today.

My training is getting quite substantial at the minute with a specific outing targeted for June so I’m balancing pushing the endurance and recovering.

Cheers @stumpy01 and @oopnorth for joining me this morning. Was good to suffer with someone else! See you in the morning for VO2 Max fun!

Dare I mention it but I think I have a window for an Uber attempt on Saturday morning. Does anyone want to join me? Would prob be looking to start early due to the time it would take and I would suggest that we try to stick together until we hit the bottom of the Alpe and then let people take it at their own pace. I suspect I might have to break the Alpe up into 3 segements with a couple of times of the bike to stretch. Depends on comfort and mental barriers at that stage.

If no one else wants to join then I will set of anyway and if you are Zwifting on Saturday morning then join me for a bit if you want for some moral support.

I might join for some of it Robbo, not sure my availability yet but I won't be doing the full uber, I don't have the time.

@robbo1234biking. Count me in. I was just going to post on here about the Uber as I could do with planning my week around it. Not quite a taper as such - I will just avoid any racing. I think blowing up on the Epic KOM yesterday on the Fondo ride has prepared me for the Alpe after 116km. Hope I don't need to call an Uber;)

Might join you on saturday Robby dependant on the weather, if it’s decent I’m itching to get out on the Mtb or a long road ride having been confined to barracks for the last two weekends.

What start time would be palatable to people? Think we would be looking at between 5-6 hours for me to complete it!
