I haven’t done better than 68 I don’t think but would expect tomorrow to be around 80 minutes.
I’m not looking to do sub hr Alpe tomorrow, have done before but it’s different when that’s all your doing/done be glad to get up it and would expect mid to late 60’s
Feed stop ideas sound good we should recap those on group chat tomorrow so we know what we are doing.
My best is 61:30, but I never usually get near that, more in the 65 to 70 minute range. On the Quatch quest I did a 70 minute Alpe following the Epic KOM, but this time it includes the radio tower, plus follows the volcano and normal KOM, so I expect it to be slower.
I'm all about just reaching the top on this route, no worries on getting a good time
If, and its a big if given my performance last night, I can hold a steady 3.5 up the climbs that should see me over the alpe in 55min ish. My best time up there is 48min but that's pretty much an ftp effort for me and ruinous.
3.5 should be comfy sustained effort for me on a normal day.
I do well to hold 2.5 up there...

I was the same but I've since recorded Phil off TTT discord and put it on loop.
…want to lend me that wheel again up the Alpe???
No problem!

Brian, was that when we rode up together?

Haha! I was imagining him berating me 2 weeks ago when he was trying to drag me up the Innsbruck KOM 🙂
I think so Phil though not 100% sure.
@oopnorth we need someone to do a cassette boy style remix I think.
If I am feeling good then I might push the last few hairpins of the alpe but wouldn't do it before then for risk of blowing myself up. I still think the hardest hill will turning right after the alpe - up the jungle hill and then the hill out of the jungle! Psychologically you will think it is done at the top of the alpe and then that drag hits you!
Planning on watching the Lance documentary tonight to get some tips but not sure if I will be able to source some EPO in time.
I think 80 mins up the Alpe for me with that much before it. My intention is to head out onto Fuego flats to round up to 100km to tick that badge off if anyone wants to join me.

I'm planning a MTB bike change in the Jungle to help with the draggy bit. We have proved it really helps.

I'll join you assuming I am still keeping up at that point!
I think me and you should be somewhere in the same area Robbo
Yeh hoping I don't get a puncture on the alpe descent!
I won’t be doing it all but did the quatch quest in 3hours
Do either of you have a towee or the like in case I'm really struggling?!
Think it's more likely you will be towing us Brian. Your worst is still faster than my best!!
I don't know Craig, Carb loading was mentioned so I'm currently trying to figure out out how many beers = 1 bowl of pasta 😉
(I'm a bit worried the answer is "quite a few" since my beer shelf starts With a few of this beauty then gets stronger at the moment)
Pizza and beer is carb loading isn’t it? It’s the red wine you want to watch!
I would love a beer, I'm sure a cheeky one won't hurt. The red wine isn't going to be opened otherwise it always ends with the full bottle.
The red wine isn’t going to be opened otherwise it always ends with the full bottle.
Why open it if it ends up with a full bottle?
Or are you refilling with ribena* in order to hide your drinking?
*other options area available, one of my uni house mates used beetroot juice. Not because he was an alcoholic but because he was a theiving sod.
..as in drinking the full bottle, but you knew that anyway...
Hey I don't just play dumb.
Can I just confirm we'll be getting the badge for riding this, pretty certain I'll only want to ride it once in this lifetime!
Well you should get a badge...but being Zwift there was a bug whereby it wasn’t awarding the badge for long routes but I believe it was fixed in the latest update...I hope! If not then I will set my weight to 1 kg and do it again in 5 minutes!
So far resisted the alcohol 🙈 Burger and wedges were a good carb fest!
See you bright and early!
We haven’t don’t a what bike discussion. Canyon aero road? Tron won’t be great for the climbing sections.
I've had a large take away curry to carb load.
Got some new cycle shorts today too so will try them out tomorrow and swap if not good at a stop.
See you in the morning.
Bike...I'm on the Tarmac Pro with lightweights for the majority, switch to MTB after the Alpe for that horrid jungle section, then I might go Tron for the flatish finale to the end.
I don’t have lightweight wheels. Maybe tomorrow will be the day.
Drinking water on a Friday night seems wrong!
10.5% Brian? Nice one. I've discovered Booths now sell Kwaremont (6.6%). Feels like fueling:). See u tomorrow folks

I got the badge last week when I did it. I also tagged on the extra 11km to get the 100km badge, carry on, turn left, then left again into the desert for a flat 10km.
Whoo hooo! My first blockquote above 😂

Had them twice now...all about luck mate. I'm sure one of us 20 riders will get them tomorrow.
So to get those light wheels you just need to keep riding up the Alpe? They are gifted to you by luck?
They are gifted to you by luck?
Yes. You should get lucky after 3 or 4 ascents.
I’ll just leave this here….
https://zwiftinsider.com/fastest-climbing-by-level//blockquote >I’m tempted to go for the Tron. Although it’s a little slower up the hills, it should make up for that on the descents.
Isn’t the real benefit of good climbers for mountain finishes?
10.5% Brian? Nice one
I was fortunate and found a bottle each of brewdog overworks "hybrid henchman" (a really rather lovely sour with sangiovese) and a "campfire cult" (sour smoky pastry stout, all very much my thing on paper, really not my thing in the same bottle) which had been languishing in the wine rack instead of on the beer shelf. Abysmal hangover averted*.
*Delete which ever one of those three words you wish.
They are gifted to you by luck?
Pretty much. I had them twice in my first 5 attempts but some people haven't had them after 15 attempts.
Small update on zwift.... only a few seconds though..
DrP
It won’t let me post any messages on Zwift, I’m going up Alpe then back down and that will do me. So don’t wait for me, cheers.
Cheers everyone!
That was hard and enjoyable at the same time! Bloody awful up the Alpe, don’t think the Trance tunes helped me out, should have gone for some Simon & Garfunkel!
The sofa is very comfy at the minute...
Well done GM.anyone else still on and going for 100km?
