My thought was to run the monitor @ 10m from the computer via extension lead and key board via USB. That's easy, ideally I want to connect the turbo to computer via USB to and assume I don't need ANT?

You'll almost certainly require an Ant dongle very close to your trainer/cadence sensor and you'll almost certainly want an USB extension lead to hook the dongle to computer but I don't think you'll find a USB cable that will work over that sort of distance.
I may be wrong, but USB voltage is too low to work over "long" distances (which may be as short as 3m) so worth checking first...

I have an extension lead to my ant dongle as it didn't like being too far from my tacx neo - using zwift for nearly three months and it's great, combination of races, quick spin and work outs will mean I'll enjoy my summer riding having prepared over winter

Nick, riders disappearing seems to be a sign of a poor internet connection. Since I have sorted mine I haven't lost any riders.

Yeah that was my assumption, I put a hotspot thingy in the garage specifically for this reason (used to find videos would drop out occasionally due to weak signal), nothing else has any problems, so not totally sure what's going on. May try a different computer. I noticed yesterday it's rather resource intensive, see why it won't work on an iPad!

Virtual ride, definitely!

There's discusion on Zwift Riders about screen resolution and FPS, concensus is to get it right you need a pretty good video card.
That said it works ok on my standard laptop but is defintey better on a fairly new imac.

I've been impressed with the frame rate, resolution is low on mine, which Is fine. Dunno what my graphics card is, being a laptop I'm not sure it even has a separate one.

Had my first ride IRL since putting some miles in on Zwift and I felt pretty good, strong legs for a January.

Does anyone know of any open source ride simulator software that's not a fictional island like watopia but the sort that lets you upload a real route and the ride it again?

Bkool, Elite, Cyclops etc all have there own but I'm not sure which is best and which are open to all users.

Update - did it.

Vortex smart trainer https://www.rosebikes.com/article/tacx-vortex-smart-t2180-indoor-trainer-full-connected-edition-incl-t2028-ant-antenna-and-t199004-sof/aid:858355

Rose bikes is a great price for Tacx software and ant with usb lead. Up and running completed first ever FTP. Average 225 for the test. Enjoying using but only issue is I cant get my ipad and Zwift to link. Both on same and only wifi.

That aside, enjoyed the structured programmes and riding around with others. Made wet weekend days and training enjoyable.

DC Rainmaker did a round up of various trainer software. It really depends on what hardware you have (both trainer and computer). Some programmes are strictly PC (Windows), some are strictly Mac and some are tablets only which are generally split between iOS and Android. You also have to figure out whether the shortlisted programme knows your trainers power curve (dumb trainer) or whether it uses Ant+ protocal(s)
Then you have to decide on licensing model (whether you'd rather buy the software outright or pay a monthly fee). So, not an easy question to answer without more info!!

Veloreality sort of does what your asking. The software is free but you have to buy their videos. Kino map is similar

The races are growing all the time. Thursday nights " Keep It Simple Stupid (KISS) road race" had over 100 entrants. Some MTB dude called Nathan Guerra does live commentary of them all on Twitch.

Rachel Elliot turned up to one the other day and taught everyone how to lay down some proper power 😉 😀

She overtook me an a couple of mates as our post-work evening ride took us into the middle of the Newbury Road Club Wednesday Night TT. We'd chased down a couple of riders, then she came past as if we were riding fat bikes.
