I'm going to swap my mates rigid carbon forks and replace them with some surplus suspension forks I have.
His existing headset is a ZS44/IS52 which is not in the best shape.
The forks I have are straight 1.1/8" steerer but a nice long 200mm v his headtube of 100mm (first of the Grand Canyon Al 29'ers). So, plenty of flexibility.
Given I seem to be struggling to find a decent value ZS44/IS52 headset plus need a reducer crown race (I already have a few of these for 36 and 45 deg bearing angles) what alternatives may I have for semi integrated headsets or even a slack headset?

Depends what you mean by 'value' - Cane Creek 40 Series is £49.99 and you then just buy the 52/30 crown race as well.
Good headset for the money.
