Anyone got experience of the cheapest way to get three days of uplift in Zermatt, though we'll probably just do one big decent each day, Rothorn, Gornergrat and Schwarzsee? There's a Fr10 bike ticket, on top of foot prices. We don't really need day passes though.
I do appreciate that this is Switzerland and won't be cheap!
Cheers
We bought a 'peak pass' that got us from Tasch to Zermatt on the train & unlimited travel on Gornergrat, Sunnegga & the lift at the end of the valley that goes over into Italy.
It was €105 for 3 days but that was when €1=£0.7

An excuse to post a pic of me & a famous bit of rock 😆
Thanks, now £180 for 3 days, but prob the best option. Any riding tips, especially at Swartzsee and from the funicular? Im currently starring every Strava segment I can find.
Switzerland is such a rip off. Go out of my way to avoid spending money there when the scenery is just as good, the food better, the beer and wine cheaper and the service much better in Italy, Austria or France (well not always the case re service in Austria).
Will be heading towards Mont Blanc in summer but will be spending our time on the other side of the Swiss border.
Horses for courses. I'm sat in a campsite, looking at the Matterhorn with 4 days of food and booze bought in an Intermarche. And about to ride some new trails.
Careful where you go near Mont Blanc, Chamonix isn't exactly cheap.
Sunnegga - basically an uphill tubetrain, lovely & cool in the cave station - up the top is a 4X course & a few good singletrack decents back to Zermatt including Findeln (basically a downhill pub crawl)
Gornergrat - loads of good singletrack back to Zermatt but be careful to not follow the rain gullies instead of the trail!
Schwarzsee - we only went up a couple of times, very exposed in places & due to its position, it doesn't get much sunlight so we found a lot of frozen switchbacks up above the treeline - it looked good but was a bit dangerous so we didn't bother after the first day.

I love Switzerland and Zermatt is a very special place, it is however not the bargain option ! I have never ridden there (only skied and hiked in summer) but I understand some of the best riding includes descending down the valley below the town. Maybe single trip ascents are the way as you suggested.
You can ride down both sides of the valley to Tasch & get the train back up but the Sunnegga side was mostly fireroad & the other side was singletrack but nothing exciting as it roughly follows the railway route.
