Mud=fun though in a small-kid-jumping-in-puddles kind of way.
(admittedly not in all cases - my worst rides are the uber-muddy-like-cycling-through-treacle-for-an-hour ones).

Nothing's wrong with my toes AFAIK (apart from some of them being oddly spaced, some of them a bit freakishly long, the outer ones a bit tucked under, and them being prehensile to an extent).

Had a lovely sunny ride yesterday evening on the mtb and a pleasant few hours out in the early morning sunshine today.
Got similar lines but its suntan not mud. 😀
