Can somebody first of all let know if there are any demo bikes in the south west, and also of their opinion of this bike.
Trying to make mind up between this and a Mojo SL, such choices?
Try asking the importers, they may know.

I've started saving for the alloy version...
Err - that's a bit of a strange comparison. The 575 has more in common with the Mojo SL (we sell both Yeti and Ibis, so I've no axe to grind).
I've got a Carbon ASR5. Awesome bike, I've had several Yeti frames over the years and this is such a smooth relaxed bike to ride. Yes its long in the top tube and is more racey but I've never ridden anything that's given so much feedback to the rider in a good way.
Email Leisure Lakes Cheltenham as they've a demo Medium Ali version. Gives you 90% of what the carbon will give you. Doubt you'll find a carbon demo though.
Ibis Mojo/SL is a great bike to although as already said more like the 575. Just be careful, The importer isn't that great. . . . .
Had a Yeti ASR-C, loved it, and excellent support from the importers (warrenty replacement on it's way ๐ )
I bought it after trying the ali version, gave a good feel for the bike.
I've got one on order, awesome bike. I got a demo on the carbon version at a demo day at Llandegla. I had previously tried the alu version at Dalby. There are subtle differences, but if you get on with the alu version, you will get on with carbon. I haven't ridden a Mojo, so I can't give a comparison.
I would try and get a ride on the carbon if that's what you are considering, mainly because there are slight differences in the sizing. The alu comes in 5 sizes, the carbon only 3 and small in one is not the same as small in the other.
As mentioned already, i don't think that there are any shops that have a carbon demo, but the importers do and they will lend their demo bikes out to dealers when they are not on demo duty. I would suggest speaking to your nearest Yeti dealer to see if they can get hold of it. Alternatively, there is a list of demo events on the Evolution Imports website.
what acbout a carbon santacruz, we have a carbon XC, a carbon LTC and a carbon Nomad all as demo's unfortunately we are in SW Scotland, I ride the LTC and its simply fantastic!
How good is it? We can't get enough of them.
In comparison to a mojo (which I ride) they are different enough to warrant a demo. Spend sometime picking the right bike now and you will save heaps long term. There are some reviews on our site of both if it helps.
Both bikes are around for a good while yet so take your time. Have fun.
David: If you're ever passing Clevedon, North Somerset then pop into Bikestyle and have a word with Phil there. He'll give you all the advice you need on a ASR5.
If you are thinking of getting one then read the review in the latest Dirt mag. Would tip me over the edge!
I am also looking closely at the ASR 5carbon or alloy... Spill the beans on the Dirt review please...

don't know if link will work - but google will do it if not......
Don't have the dirt review to hand, read it in smiths. They loved it. Think there was some mention of "ultimate trail bike" but you got to ride it hard apparently. Much like the pinkbike review. I was looking for something with a bit more travel but I find myself very tempted.
I have taken the plung and bought a 5c. I haven't got it yet, but I had a decent length demo ride on one at Llandegla. I would say that it is well worth a try even if you are thinking of something a bit bigger.
The slackish angles and frame stiffness make it feel much more planted and capable than you would expect for the travel and the lack of weight makes it very chuckable.
Well I've got my trusty old blur xc for trail centre fun so had been looking at something all mountainy. Though the idea of a bike that feels as quick as my blur but with a slacker head angle and a little bit more travel at about the same weight is very tempting indeed. I suspect a test ride would be dangerous to my bank balance!
Daveb575, what else did you consider and test ride?
Daveb575 - what fork/travel you having? UK staff recon 140 voids warrenty but there is nothing to say this on the Yeti web site. Infact they quote geometry for 140mm settings.... Fox Float 140 dropped to 130mm seems to be a good option. Not convinced 120mm is a fair match for 127mm at rear. I am interested to know what is best suited to the ASR5 (alloy and cabron) Cheers gang
We had 120 forks on our demo ASR-5 and I wasn't impressed, I think 130mm - 140mm would be fine - an extra wee bit to raise the bottom bracket and also slacken it off a bit.
Otherwise it was a beast.

I have a Blur XC Carbon and am considering a Mojo for all of the above reasons.
130mm is the sweet spot really on the ASR5 Alloy....we've got ours at 140mm at the moment with a bit more sag...but, they seem to ride better at 130....lower CoG and all of that good stuff....still a static HA of just under 68.
The C I'm still waiting to hear back on - the factory guys run them at 120mm.....yep, there's 127 at the rear when static, but....when sag in the travel...?
I 'think'....that both the 5 and 5C are geometry corrected for 120mm....giving the 68 HA.....
Our demo is now available too chaps!!
I'll let you know when I hear back on the 5C position...
Cheers,
Scott
thebiketree
mate of mine has one
I rode it and couldn't quite believe how good it was
absolutely flies up hills, so much grip from the back end when cranking up rough terrain, flies downhill, and for a 22lb bike felt planted and controlled
if I had the money, I would get one in a heartbeat
