Hi,

Going to scotland soon for two weeks of MTB touring and trail riding, and some specific advice would be greatly appreciated (rather than a link to just f***ing google it).

basically we want to do a mix of trail centres and natural riding. We are getting the train to the most northerly stop of our journey first (probably inverness), then riding to or splitting the train journey back to see bits further south.

The trailcentres ive picked out so far are :

Laggan
learnie
moray
pitfichie
strathpeffer
Abriachan
Balbair
Balnain
fortwilliam

So it would be good to join some of these up with MTB touring, partically in the perthshire-trossachs area as i have quite a few OS maps od round here.

Does anyone have any advice on the above trailcentres?
And any good natural trails to ride? (pitlochry, dunkeld)
or suggested routes around?

I would like a few days to pick my skills up before tackling anything particulary 'fun.

Go to Golsipe if you can, tis awesome, well worth the extra push past Invershnek. You will not be disappointed....... except that everything else you ride might not seem quite as good!

And Laggan is also ace (and a bit savage).

Wouldn't bother with Pitfichie if you're not over that side of the country anyway.

There are supposed to be really good loops round Dunkeld, but I've never ridden there, perhaps someone else can help.

There are good loops ( but mainly double track) around Loch Ordie to the north of dunkeld, the Bein a Ghlo circuit from Blair Athol is a nice ride - a long day and again mainly estate roads but 35 miles and 5000 foot of climb.

Lochan na hearba just west of Laggan wolftrax is very scenic - with the option of adding a singletrack loop to the estate roads. Ben alder circuit is a lot of singletrack but a big hike a bike climb
