[#7203614]

Hi all,
I have a 4 month old Reverb stealth which all of a sudden has about 1-2cm of up downward movement when I sit on it. It still goes up and down fine and settles / doesn't move any further once this small amount of play has taken place. I'm guessing it will need to go back for a warranty but before I do this I thought I'd check with the experts...!
If I take it out of the frame there is no sign of a connection point to check air pressure, although people often seem to say the pressure should be checked. The hose simply comes straight out of the bottom!
There are bleed points and I'm wondering if there is any point attempting a bleed. I have an unused Avid Professional Bleed kit which won't be tainted with DOT fluid but I'm not sure if the connections will fit? I'm conscious that tinkering may invalidate the warranty. Also when I removed it from the frame there was a rim of gunky whitish slightly gritty grease-like substance sitting on the bottom of the seatpost. Might have been just from the original fitting though but I wondered whether this had leaked out of the seatpost indicating some horrible failure...
Cheers!

Pressure valve is under seat clamp, remove your saddle and the lower part of the cradle and you'll see it

It's got an air gap, they all do it. Will be replaced under warranty.

The air valve is under the saddle clamp.

The bleed port is in the connection where the hose entries the post, look for the torx head, but I wouldn't bother if I were you, it won't fix it.

The gritty grease like substance is probably carbon assembly paste which I can best describe as being like gritty grease

Nothing to be lost with bleeding it - easy enough and won't invalidate the warranty.

The damping is gapped (air & oil mixing) a service will fix it - as it's only 4 months old just send it back to Fishers to get it fixed.

What do you mean by not tainted with dot fluid? The system uses dot fluid so it won't taint it...

Reverbs use 2.5wt suspension oil

So...I had low PSI in the system and also some air, have now sorted the pressure and done a system bleed. I now have a post which seems to be working much better. There is a tiny sag of maybe 1-2mm when I sit on the seat, not noticeable in practice. I can't remember now whether this was in fact normal when it was new! Any chance of those with fully working Reverbs commenting?
Cheers!

I had exactly the same chain of events on mine. It shouldn't sag at all. The 1-2mm sag you have now will probably get worse. You need to send it back to Fisher through any of their bike shops, and they will replace it with a new one.

One thing worth noting is you don't have to send back the whole thing, just the seatpost. This saves you the ball-ache of hose routing when you get the replacement.

Thanks - I think I need a cap to go over the hose fitting, which I'm pretty sure didn't come with the bike...?

What hose fitting do you mean?

I was thinking that if I remove the hose and take the seatpost to my LBS to send back to Fishers I would need to cap off the bottom of the post once the hose is removed.

No you'll be fine. There'll be a tiny dribble of fluid but that's all. Nothing a sheet of kitchen towel won't fix. Same goes for the end of the hose, but I also taped some kitchen towel over the end, just in case any debris got in while I was waiting for the new post.
