Now that most bikes are gates even in the smaller sizes. Human adults dwarfed between giant wheels, massive stack heights. Wheelbases, where one wheel is in the rock garden, the other, in another county, is the jibe moribund?

I’d say it’s the reverse. Little wheels, long seat tubes and high top tubes doth a gate make. Huge wheels and tyres, short seat tubes and dropped top tubes on a long wheelbase may look big but it won’t look gate-shaped.
Have to agree with Chief, a gate was always a 26” wheeled bike with whopping head tube and seat stays that disappeared up to space. Think of the 23” framed Raleigh Mirage your mum got you too grow in to’.
It’s the reason all my retro bikes are too small for me to ride!
I don't know most of Cotics FS frames look very gate like to me.
Correct, the BTR is a traditional gate.
Have to agree with Chief
It’s rare but he’s right on this one😀 short and tall a gate makes
I like big bikes and I cannot lie

Yeah, except it's a 29er. And the chap who owns it could probably crush us all. In fact, I think it's a beautiful bike.
I know and that makes it even more impressive. Managing to 'gate' a 29er is top work.

Finishing kit heavy duty galvanised hinges.
