[#2807536]

I am led to believe that I can convert my 08 XTR Shadow rear mech to short cage by using Saint M810 parts.

Before I order the bits, has anyone actually done this?

Thanks.

cut the cage plates down, drill new holes for the tension pulley and use a nut n bolt to hold it.

Not done this but having fiddled with other mechs I can say that the spring (part 8 in your pic) is a bugger to get back in.

Interested to see if it can be done though, I've got two long-cage shadows I'd like to swap for shortcages.

I take it you mean part 6?

The trick with those is to give yourself a 3rd hand by clamping the relevant size hex key in a vice
You can then drop the mech on the hex key and tension it with one hand whilst putting the circlip on with the other

seen it done more than once, it works just fine.. in fact a mate has been running a shortened mech cage (unintentionally shortened ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) with no lower jockey wheel on his DH bike for over a year with no issues.
