Evening. Has anyone managed to get the correct Hope tech matchmaker clamps for use with the new XTR M980 shifters and Tech brake levers?
Specifically, according to [url= http://www.hopetech.com/webtop/modules/_repository/documents/SHIMANOshiftermounts.pdf ]this[/url] the new HBSP263 which has 'M970 and M980' on it. Apparently the old HSBP263 (with nothing written on it) meant for the 970 XTR stuff isn't compatible because it needs a bodge using a washer and can cause the shifter to be prone to rotating about its mounting bolt unless the same is done up silly tight.
I've asked CRC whether they have the new ones or the old ones in stock but so far it's taken them a week to get back to me saying they'll 'get one from the warehouse and have a look', still waiting.
There seems to be an online shop in France who, in the product description for the relevant item, clearly says that the HBSP263's they have in stock are compatible for 970 and 980 but A) why would a French shop have these already when they don't seem to be common in the UK and B) I suspect that if I order them and they turn out to be the old version I'll be met with the online equivalent of a Gallic shrug.

Yes,I bought some from Hope in January and just recently fitted them.I am using the current Xt shifters which I believe r the same as the Xtr (they have M980 and Xt stamped on them) Seem to work well.Have u tried contacting Hope?

Cheers, yes I'm fed up of waiting for CRC (would have been quicker to just order some and sent back if not right) so I emailed hope yesterday, buying direct would be ideal if they get back to.me. Thanks for letting me know.
I had a feeling the new ones were common to 780 & 980 shifters.
does anyopne know of a clamp for the 2012 SL-M780 2x10 shifters for tech levers? that pdf file says the hope ones wont work 🙁 cant get the right setup with the shifters and hopes oversized master cylinder

thanks, sounds good to me, going to email hope to get them to confirm. last time i asked them they said they had some mounts in the pipe line
I believe u will not not need the I spec covers just the Hope adaptors.I bought a set of the I spec xt shifters and just removed the I spec part.Someone mite be able to confirm but I think the standard xt shifter is the same but with a bar clamp which will need to be removed.Some dismantling of the shifter is required,but they do seem to work rather well.

Hope got back to me confirming basically what I already knew (that the mounts I need must have M970 and M980 stamped on them) and that they are indeed available in black, but annoyingly no further details of where to get them (and no offer to buy direct). Emails or phone calls to bike shops are painfully slow / frustrating, CRC have now taken a fortnight to not answer a simple question. Can anyone confirm if they can sell or know where to buy the new HBSP263s?

i emailed hope about my shifters and they said they dont make the mounts for them. what i can make out from the list posted is the sl m780-1 is my shifters just with the i spec mounts, so after i add them i need the hbsp263 mounts, which i cant find on google:(
CRC got back to me today and the chap I mithered (Chris) personally checked some stock of the HBSP263s which he found have "XTR M970-M980 XT M780" embossed on them.
hope emailed me back, they dont have a clamp for my sl m780 shifters. neither do they have on for these shifters with the i spec conversion. neither do they have mounts for the sl m780 -i which i make out at a normal m780 with the i spec covers?
may be worth getting the i spec and mounts from a shop who will accept returns
Something not right with what you've been told there - the HBSP263s that landed on my doormat yesterday morning have "XT M780-I" stamped on them (as well as "XTR M970-980"). These are the XTR mounts ordered from CRC a few days ago. They're in silver which isn't ideal for me but at least I can get on with my build now and look for black ones as and when.
