Is it possible to replace a XTR Freehub with a XT Freehub?

Cheers ๐Ÿ™‚

"It depends"

Seems to be the answer.

Best bet is to check the tech docs on the Shimano site for the hubs you're looking at and see.

Experience tells me that they often make XTR just different enough that parts interchange with lower price points groupsets isn;t possible, though ๐Ÿ™

What generation XTR do you have? There will be an FH-M9 number on it somewhere.

If it's M97 series, then no is the answer. The axle, bearings and cones are all different too.

Somewhere I've got an old XTR rear wheel which has a knackered rim so if you want a freehub body (and they're compatible) I'll cut the hub out and send it over for less than the cost of a new XTR freehub!

Post on here when you know the part number of your freehub.

I'm not certain but on the lower models, (Deore, XT ect') you have to change the axle as well as the freehub to swap em over,
So if you want to fit a Deore freehub to an XT hub you have to change the axle as well as the freehub.
