anyone if there is any issue using the outter ring position on xtr cranks for a 1*9 setup? its a 36 tooth chainring and i think it would fit, but would there be chain line issues? can they be offset with removing spacers at the bottom bracket?

You can do it, the chain line will be shit, you can offset it, but then your cranks are 2.5mm offset if that bothers you. I'd just use the middle ring position.

I never understood why no one made little blanking caps to fit on the ends of the chainring lugs (was going to make some out of carbon fibre) but now I think someone does. Can't remember who but I saw them somewhere in the STW news/fresh goods I think.

KCNC make nice little colours blanking caps for M970s.
i cant find these blanking caps anywhere.. can anyone help?
You could always wait until next year's chainset is released and get 1x specific.
