I've had a set of xt V brakes in the shed for a while and now I'm building a kick around bike I fancied bolting them on, however I find that the bosses on the frame are too short for the brake arms, anyone know much about them? I could try just bolting them in place but there is quite a gap.

I would just stick them on. Unles you can easily and cheaply get replacement (longer) bosses.

Seem to remember the arms have their own in-built bushes, so don't need the bosses to protrude. They should also be fitted with their own special shouldered bolts.
