Is there much difference between them aside from price and aesthetics?
slx looks nicer imo
rob is right. it looks good.
its good enough for most normal riding. racing maybe not but its solid kit.
Weight difference against price makes slx a clear winner. The difference in price could be used to save more weight eg tyres
I think the SLX stuff is very good. Prefer it over XT now that everything is soooo expensive
What I think is that the XT is overdue an update, so right now SLX is closer to the XT's performance than it should be. The current XT crank is getting on a bit, while the SLX is pretty new.
I have an SLX myself, despite being a total weight weenie, never regretted it for a second.
