[#11051979]

Building up a Pegasus Ti 29er and have gone full HOPE with the new EVO chainset and 32 chainring coupled to XT cassette and chain. Noticing the chain doesnt seem to seat on the chainring perfectly and getting that sick feeling that maybe this chainring isnt compatible with the new XT chain. Does anyone have any experienxe of runninf this combo please?

Thanks
Simon

Try an Eagle powerlink connector, instead of the Shimano one.

Many thanks, you are spot on, its the quick link picking up, bit rubbish really but a relief the chainring/chain combo is OK

Annoying, but the work around is cheap and effective.

Given that the chamfers on the shimano 12 speed chain just don't work with a lot of third party chainrings, it sounds like you've been pretty lucky there.

Anyone know if Burgtec work, I know Blackspire snaggletooth don't.

Absolute Black make one specifically for Shimano 12 spd chains - if you don’t want Shimano, I’d look at one of those or an alternative Shimano specific ring.

The problem is a lot of people wanting to try shimano 12sp want to keep their existing cranks with 104 or 96 asym bcd for example.
Shimano seem to have made it so you have to buy their new chainset as well.

I bought a Wolf Tooth XT 12 speed specific ring for my M8000 cranks when I switched to Xt 12 speed. It works great so far.

I wasnt paying attention when i ordered the 11 spd Hope chainring, just assumed it would work OK with 12 spd XT, now worrying the chain line might not be right. Hopefully it will be fine, i only went for 12 spd to avoid obsolescence.
