Serviced an xt hub a few weeks ago, ridden sporadically since. Noticed it was a bit loose today, and feels rough as arseholes. Open it up and one of the bearings is in bits - any idea what could have caused this?
When I did the service first time I can't think of anything untoward - cleaned it out, new (good) bearings, plenty of grease. One thing I might have done wrong is have done it up a bit on the loose side - the wheel felt solid at the time but I guess if it's coming loose with light riding then this might have been the problem?

The rears have a habbit of self-loosening unless you lock the cone and locknut solid on the drive side and do the adjustments on the NDS.
