I have a bike with xt 785 brakes. It has 180 ice tech rotors. As i ride a few other bikes i havnt used it in about 10 weeks. Im planning on taking it away on a weekend trip tomorrow am. I brief check has revealed that when I apply the brakes, both ends squeal like a freshly wounded moose.
What can i do to remedy this situation in a v short time? It didnt squeal when i put it away, and i am using oem pads. i havnt got any IPA to clean the pads. I have some new pads to take on my trip. The bike hasnt been contaminated or sprayed with any chemicals.
Please help or everyone will hate me ๐
Mine usually squeals when it's been put away and not ridden. Has it been stored somewhere slightly damp - unheated garage, shed or cellar? If it squeals but still slows down, a few hard stops from speed or down a hill often cures it.
Mine used to do this, after I'd got them up to temperature they'd be fine for the rest of the ride, and much more powerful, even after they got cold. Getting them hot in the first place wasn't easy as I'm not a big guy so it was a constant issue for me until I replaced the pads when they wore out...
It is in an unheated damp garage!
Ace, im going to thrash it at BPW.
Thanks guys!
