[#5846525]

I've had a brand new set of xt brakes with sintered finned pads in since November

The reads have lasted 2 months just over and done 350 miles of pure Peak District winter grit! Today's ride saw them done to metal almost after today and now defo un useable

Just wondered what sort of mileage other folk are getting out of there official shimano pads

After the first month seemed pretty much like they were new when I checked them but with conditions worsening over the last month I guess they have had a good old hammering

Front ones are still fine with plenty of life

Getting around 500 miles out of shimano, goodridge and uber bike ones - all sintered. I'd say shimano sintered are the best.

I'm still on the original resin pads on the front brake.

dittto - found the original metal pads lasted from may to dec, but the aftermarket (uber/supersta et al) no where near as good

True I reckon on my old formula brakes I was getting about 2-3 weeks out of rear sintered and that was in summer

Defo seem the hardest wearing these shimano finned ones, I genuinely think the last few rides alone would have pretty much wrecked a brand new set of superstar sintered

These official sintered finned ones seem pretty good, so will go with then again

I expect in summer I'd get a full 6 months easily out of a new set of these

As I said the front ones still have loads left so I must drag the rear a bit more, easily a good months worth if not more left in the front as it stands

350 miles doesn't sound loads but when it's been 2 full months of pure peak winter shite I think it actually sounds pretty good been on some good long grim 30 mile dark/white peak rides

I did 2 brand new sets of XTR sintered pads in 56 miles last weekend, down to and practically through the ti backing plate. Very wet and gritty sand just kills them.

Proper shimano ones gee? I guess 350 peak miles sounds pretty good going given the 2 months last conditions we've had

Must be a few more users out there with feedback?

Wasn't overly impressed with Shimano's sintered pads durability either, have been running BBB sintered until recently (when I discovered Aztec's are cheaper at trade despite the higher retail), and haven't noticed any real difference in performance between any of them.

I was really impressed with the first month of them, every other ride (in November / early December) I'd get home from a gritty crappy pad destroying ride and think I bet that rides wrecked my pads, only to take them out and be amazed they still looked like new

Then suddenly after a few totally totally grim rides ( November and start of December were still grim conditions) in early jan the rears suddenly started to wear, not particularly gradually either a few rides after they looked new, I could see they had started to wear then another ride later they were getting really quite low, then yesterdays 25 gloop/wet/extreme muddy ride they had more or less disappeared

Again still think 2 months of peak riding in proper sloshy winter isn't bad just more shocked they still looked like new almost 2 months old then suddenly just wham and gone

Only thing I can think of is I changed to Ice tech rotors at around the time they started to wear fast? I didn't change the pads obviously I just stuck new ice techs on and carried on? Weird coincidence or should I have put new pads on with a brand new rotor Instead of using pads that were part worn?
