Does anybody know the thickness of the XT M series pad spacer? I've just fitted some second hand ones to a new build and need to bleed the rear brake, for a jaunt to cannock tomorrow. As I won't be able to source one in time I was going to see if I could 'off the hoof' shape one out of a piece of batten.

Get a piece of card from a cereal box and keep folding it until it is the right thickness to fill the gap.

Tomorrow? I thought it was scheduled for Sunday! I just wedge a wooden clothes peg in my Hopes when I do mine and that seems to work.
Guess the thickness needs to be a combined total of new pads + rotor width + a little bit more for clearance. Lets call it 14mm, how close am I?

I can't do Sunday, so I'm going up tonight and staying round a friends house, having an autumn BBQ (meat fuel) and riding on the saturday.

Allen key? I might try phoning an LBS and ask for measurements.

who is Macyver? F J or D?

As long as you've got something in there to stop the pistons popping out the width isnt too critical TBH.

Damn, 4mm out.
Remember, ride across town and don't bring the van on tuesday as it's scheduled post ride beers for Pedalhead's birthday.
