Im guessing this may have been done to death, but will an XT reat mech with a stated range of 51t max low gear and 41t capacity work with a 52t sram 10-52 cassette? The low gear is 1 tooth bigger and has a need to acxommodate 42t of difference.

Or should i swallow my bias and get a gx mech and shifter?

Thanks

Ian

It might work depending on the geometry of your mech hanger, but if you're buying stuff anyway might as well get the GX gear, it seems OK to be honest. I have XTR 12 speed on one bike and a GX Eagle shifter / X01 rear mech on the other, the XTR is nicer to use, but the GX / X01 stuff is pretty close.

It works fine for me. XT mech and shifter on a GX cassette fitted to a Bird Aether 9.

Not tried your combo but it’s only 1 tooth different so can’t see it being an issue personally.

I prefer the feel of my GX eagle vs my xt 12 speed - got a much lighter feel to the shifter.
