One of the unique (to this area at least) features of the Gorrick kids races are that they are a single long lap, not multiple laps of a very short course like other kids xc races. This is great and encourages judgement, pacing, a/b line choice etc. Really good stuff for aspiring racers. But this also increases the chance of a course sabotage incident like the one that happened yesterday. I hope this is a one off, as I am unaware of this happening before.

But if it takes some additional volunteer manpower, then I'd be happy to help out, and I'd imagine many parents would too. Maybe a rider ahead of the kids and a sweeper at the back?

Did someone move the tape after his kid had gone past?

Was it this fella?

That's bloody outrageous, shame she couldn't ID him, that ought to be a flat out DQ

Not just a DQ, the organiser should refuse their entry future races

Winterfold, only just caught this thread.

I'm around the same FTP (now, raced last year without the ability to measure FTP, but strava climbs now are similar times to last year if that makes sense)

I chose Open as I haven't raced for 20 years and needed to relearn how to do it! Fitness was fine, but need to get much quicker on singletrack as that's the main focus of the courses. Could catch people on the open sections, but lost momentum in the twisty stuff.

Found myself working my way up the top 10, 12th, 10th, 8th or something, so getting there - but course dependant.

Would have been mid pack in the Sport (and got home earlier too..!)

If you're doing the Enduro (endurance) events then it's just 2 or 4 hour Male. 4 hours guys are just crazy, 4 hours without dropping more than a minute a lap from start to finish!

Thread dredge, but interestingly on the UCI mtb survey, 900 prefer xco to 300 dh and 80 XCE.

Seems lack of interest in xc is a very UK thing? Fits in with our fat, lazy, angry, beer swilling sterotype ๐Ÿ˜†

I kinda thought everyone knew that already......
It would be interesting to have details on exactly why that is.
