[Closed] X01 Noise? Driving me mad.

Hope someone can help.

Put maybe 400 miles on my X01 gear.

Was fantastic for 350 miles.

On wednesday's ride, i started to get a noise in every gear other than 1st and 2nd. The noise is like the tyre is rubbing on something as i put the power down.

Ive taken the freehub apart, and cleaned and regreased. Loads of anti seize on the threads on the freehub.

It's driving me mad.

Hoping someone has a remedy or a suggestion on how to fix.

Thanks
Pete

sorry cant help just to say mines running silent. Have you checked for stiff link, check the connectors especially the inside one may not be fully home. Mine was a bit noisy when I changed the chain but it soon went and the chain was well oiled.

Check wheel is sat correctly in the frame and the mech hanger isnt bent?

Have you checked the chain for wear? Or that the chainring is even the slightest bit hooked over?
They've got to be perfect for them to run properly & I've come across both, even with that sort of mileage on.

Chain wear is fine, less than 0.5. Checked for stiff links, chain runs great. Might try a new chain and see if the noise goes.

Thanks for the advice so far guys.

Any others?

I had an issue where the tension jockey wheel was a bit stiff and it keep getting the narrow / wide out of sync. A bit of lube and repositioning had it sorted for me.

Other than that wear on the chain ring is the only other thing I can think of

OH runs XO1 and it clicks when climbing in the lower gears. It's only about a month old so not chain wear or anything. I have XX1 and it does something similar. I just figured that it was something to do with the angle of the chain on the lower gears.

I'd agree with gaz, XX1 isn't quiet at all. I've had the cassette off twice to check, and no stiff link. BB also on the correct spacing.

Certainly "noisier" in a mechanical way than slx, xt or xtr.

It's a bit noisy. I put it down to the jockey wheels being thick thin as well as the chainring.
Possibly check the chain hasn't jumped on the jockey wheels?
I've found to keep it quiet the mech needs to be kept very clean and the rear cable clean & greased well. Even so it can make a racket especially in the mud.

It's not the clutch clicking is it? They don't get assembled with much/any grease on the bearing, so that can get a bit noisy after a while. I had a bad creaking under stood up pedalling - sounded like cranks or chainring bolts, but a strip/regrease of the mech clutch has made it silent again.

The chainring can make a bit of a racket, but it's more of a tinkle than a creak - just the noise of the links engaging the teeth.

Mine doesn't care particularly about being clean - I did a week on the Trans Provence without anything more than oil, and I don't think I've washed it again since I got back at the begining of July. Just a wipe down and a re-oil every ride or 2.

Jon, thanks for the link. I will do the clutch rebuild but mine's just the front ring I'm sure.
