[#2568383]

Got a problem with my chain constantly slipping over the big ring of my SRAM XO chainset.

Had it looked at by 3 different LBS and it is still happening. I have alterred the mech and shortenend the chain but still it keeps slipping off the big ring.

More importantly my black X0 crank now has deep scratches down the side where the chain has wrapped around the arm.

Anybody experienced any similar problems or can offer any possible solutions?

The bike in qustion is a Nomad C with a full Xo groupset.

Cheers

Bent chain ring, twisted chain. There's not many things it could be. Does it happen on the stand or only when out riding?

correct spacers on the BB? sounds like its sitting too far to the non-drive side. What gear does the outer ring line up with on the cassette?

another question. when you say its slipping off do you mean as you pedal forward or when you back-pedal?

Njee20 - was querying bent chainring but only had it 4weeks and not done anything 'big' on the bike as of yet to justify a bent chainring just afan and cwmcarn trials.

STATO - it lines up with the 5th or 6th on the rear and it does it both ways on the chainset, moving up from inner to outer ring and when sometimes (but not all times) back pedalling to get the pedals positioned correctly.

well if its lining up with the 5th or 6th then thats basically the middle right (assuming 10 speed), is that right shouldnt it be further out, ie. more spacers behind bb on driveside? If its falling off on the backpedal then it would seem to tie in with that.

Falling off on the upshift just means the mech is not setup correctly. There are many different XO front mechs now, make sure you have the one that matches your choice of chainring sizes.
