Looking for a new saddle for my hardtail. The WTB seems to have good padding and a nice wide rear platform. How's this saddle for general XC & trail riding ?

If it works for your derriere then fine, used it for bike packing and cross country with no issues.

Getting the right width is crutial. Last bike had the 142mm and I loved it. Rode it for 7 years. Current bike came with the 135mm and I didn’t get on with it at all. Not sure if the design changed slightly or if it was simply the width. Swapped it out after two rides for a Bel Air 3.

Can do a very good deal on it if you fancy?

I currently prefer the Rocket which is a Volt with more padding. My sit bones are 100mm apart and 143mm width works best.

I've a £5 volt on my ebike and the top carbon £200+ volt on my xc bike - the £5 is more comfortable, with significantly more padding, the £200 one is about half the weight but firmer. Both are 143 widths.

The volt is my current goto saddle, having tried and bought many alternatives over the years (probably in excess of 15 different saddles in the last 10years, and many more before that), but may or may not be right for someone else - and I'm still looking for a 'perfect' saddle.

I just fitted a volt to my newish bike as I was finding the Brook C17 a bit hard. The volt is if anything a bit too padded. That said my first ride on it was 75k and my bum didn't feel battered like it did on the Brooks.

The cover is quite grippy rubbery stuff so you kind of stay put where you sit on it rather than being able to easily slide along it if that makes sense. Depends what you prefer.

The WTB Koda also looks a good bet.

I had one and liked it, it split round the back though and was a weighty bugger, but I think mine was pretty cheap, maybe the more expensive ones are a bit more hard wearing.

I had to pay full retail for an emergency replacement saddle after mine broke when away on a mini break recently, I bought a SDG Bellair 3, and I love it. It's very comfy, supportive, not too heavy and wasn't too expensive, even at full price. I've had a fair few SDG Bellair saddles over years and this one is definitely the best. Just another option.
