Looking for a mixed conditions/mixed terrain front tyre for winter. Usually run a 29x2.5 Shorty but looking as this as potentially a better ‘all rounder’

Grippy as f&@k

Great in mud as well as wet root & rock.

Tough as well if you don’t mind the weight penalty.

I’m running the TCS light High Grip.

Can't recommend it highly enough. Absolutely leaves the Shorty, Wild Enduro etc for dead in off camber, slippy, loose natural trails. Yep, there's a weight penalty and rolling on tarmac is slow, but you'll just get fitter as a byproduct.

I'm running 29x2.5 Tough High Grip 👍

Great tyre, I have been running one all year and I have a Verdict Wet sat in the shed for when it gets biblical.

I did find on my last ride that it might be a bit pressure sensative, decided on the last trail to drop 2psi out and it felt complately different, somehow quieter than before, so will definitely be experimenting with pressure when I am out again.

Both my verdict and verdict wet are light casing high grip.

Had my first ride on the Verdict Wet (tough high grip) on Sunday. It's a level up from any enduro tyre I've tried in the wet.

Very heavy and slow on climbs & flat pedaling, but I think it'll be worth it when the trails are a slopfest.

Would try the Verdict as an all-rounder if I didn't have a new-ish Mary already.

I’m running mine at about 19psi at the moment, doesn’t seem to squirm or fold in corners.

I weigh about 85kg at the moment though.

Paired with a Judge out back in Tough High Grip flavour at 21psi

Tough on the rear, light on the front. Seems excellent so far at 20psi, might try and drop the pressures a bit today. Riding wet chalk, loamy woods, off-camber roots.

also interested in this. on the reviews though there seems to be some fairly consistent talk of a bit of letting go when leaning the bike over until it catches on the side tread? anyone experienced this, if so how bad / noticeable is it? not a fan of front tyre drift, even if i know its going to catch! also how does it compare to the magic mary?

Been using one over the summer. 98% of the time it’s incredible, but there’s times when it will randomly let go on off cambers, which I think is the big gap between the centre and side knobs - you could call it under commitment if you liked, but it’s not regular enough for that.

On the whole I’m a fan.

I rate it as one of the best front tyres going in the High Grip compound. The Assegai my dry weather/hardpack tyre & the Verdict is my wet/soft ground preference. The only time I do find it feels a bit vague is on hardpack, but it really bites in on loose & soft stuff.

On the back it's great for grip, not so good for braking performance - the judge is a better tyre IMO.

They are bloody heavy and I imagine would be draggy, but they are on my Eeb, so it's non issue. Not sure i'm enough of a sadist for them on the analogue.

The more I hear about them the better they sound. Well apart from being heavy and draggy...
