Well, I don't reckon so!
Beautiful summer evening and enjoying riding with 3 mates. We all sacked off work a bit early and headed over to Langsett to ride Cut Gate. Honestly, it's one of my favourite rides, particularly at this time of year. Laps in the woods are all well and good, but there's nothing quite like the 'out there' feeling you get from a ride like this. Extended the route a bit by riding along Derwent reservoir, climbing up and doing the Derwent descent. And then a dip at Slippery Stones before the final climb, and then descent back to Langsett. Just wonderful!
Oh you can bugger right off 🤣
I'm still recovering from camping with the family at the start of the week (it was so hot that wax crayons melted in the tent) and I couldn't even summon up the energy for some local laps last night. Or this morning.
Maybe I'll get out on Sunday. Maybe.
Cracking evening chasing these two loons. Very dry and I had two big crashes, certain the first was caused by deep dust, went over the bars, landed on my feet but the trail was steep enough that I couldn't stop, rain about 15 metres down the trail before I lost it and landed on my back. Second one was on the last descent, gave it some beans on a drop but just after landing my pedal just caught a cut root that was sticking out. Over the bars again but landed on my head and chest, really thought I might have cracked some ribs as I think I bounced of a tree stump. Bit battered but should be ok. Don't bounce like I used to.
After a week of miserable weather finally got to take the new fork for a spin. It was exactly as all the reviews said.
Although the conditions weren’t prime i got some of my fastest times on strava segments I’ve ridden hundreds of times, including a 4th on one of the roughest tracks.
Better go back again tomorrow…
Actually managed to get my lad out for a ride today. 12k following the sea by Rye. He enjoyed it, and we were done before it got too hot!
Gravel ride that didn't go to plan, we decided to follow an easier route back to the campsite
Just got home from a 30 mile ride around all 3 city parks, the beach and two rivers, with my daughter in tow.
I introduced my daughter to Eastridge today, it’s pretty local but I’ve held off until now because it’s well, pretty full on in places. Eased her in gently on what I remembered was a fairly benign trail on the Snailbeach side. It appears that my memory is awful and it was a full commitment, near vertical jobbie in places 🤣 😆 she took it in good spirits and committed to the majority of it though and only told me off a little bit 😆 she is starting to like the tech, it’s always been more about fast with jumps before and Eastridge is now on the favourites list 😀
I wasn't going to go out today as thunder and lightning was forecast, but it was actually quite nice so ended up doing a 25 mile loop around the local woods and old railway line. I don't chase times, but scored a top 10, top 3 and a KoM 👑
Today, e-bike tour (I'm borrowing his Orbea Rise. Only ridden an e-bike for two days before. As mostly e-bikes here, guides take you up stupid, steep climbs. Definitely a learning experience. And the "oh it's not going to stop as it's heavier than my bikes" moments which have been quite exciting/occasionally crash-y" 🙂
Stunning alpine scenery. Been a while since I've been in the proper mountains. Some pretty full on descending as well, steep, rocky, Rooty and wet after thunderstorms last night. Super cool place to ride tho, great guides and a fab place to stay. Weather is a bit rubbish for next two days so may end up heading out to a different bike park, or to Lake Como depending on where the sunshine is.
