Todays commute started badly, after 500m I thought "sh**" i've not got my SPD shoes on but just my "house trainers". Did I turn round and go back? No..I have no idea why, I did the rest of the ride in some discomfort with the spd's pushing through the thin soles and sliding around.
Antone else done this?
Yep! Many years ago....blagged one of JM's (RIP) old DH bikes off a Specialized rep for a day....
Off I went to Beddgelert Dh course, having fitted SPD pedals to it, get there all excited to find my shoes missing!
Trail bodge consisted of sliced up tubes wrapped around the pedals for some grip....wasn't quite the same, bike was still ace though with first generation carbon judys on it...happy days!
Learn't from it though as final check is always shoes, gloves and helmet now!
The great advantage of a commuting bike wih flat pedals on is that this never happens. Nice rubberised efforts, with reflectors. Don't even scuff up a leather sole iof I ride out in my good shoes. ๐
Not sure how you can get more than 2m from your door without realising you're in the wrong shoes, surely it's noticable at first touch?
Weren't still in your pyjamas as well when you got to work were you? Coffeeking you are being very generous in allowing 2 meters to notice such a thing.
i quite often lock the garage then realise,
I've even got on the bike before realising
I've never ridden off though!
Some say I'm forgiving to a fault... ๐
I forgot my spd shoes on the way to the peaks one day - I borrowed a flat pedal (he had 2 spare left ones??) and made it round with a pair of trainer and a flat pedal and a spd.
Still quicker than the others I was with ๐
I was on on autopilot,i follow a set routine and gradually wake up as i get on the road, God, what would happen if i forgot to get dressed?
No Idea why i didn't spot it or why i didn't turn back
