[Closed] Worth servicing Rocksox Monarch yet?

Owned current bike for about 2.5 years, although on average I reckon I’ve only used it once every 3 weeks (shocking I know).

A while ago I noticed my rear shock was leaking air (Rockshox Monarch Debonair) – maybe 20 PSI after every ride. So I have recently booked it in to be serviced, amongst other things like brakes (appallingly spongey XT M8000’s).

But then I recently discovered that the shock only leaks air when in the locked out position. i.e. when travelling to a trail on roads. When I leave it open, even after 2 hours of riding it seems to retain all its air. Is that normal? Or is the fact it is leaking air from a locked position a clear sign it needs servicing? I’m now wondering if it needs servicing at all, or whether it’ll be a waste of money

On a side note, the front fork (Rockshox Pike) is the same age, and seems ‘fine’. Is it worth having this serviced too?

I would say it will definitely be in need of a service after 2.5 years, even if you haven't used it a huge amount.

However, considering how the shock and damping adjustment works, I can't think of any reason why having it locked out would make any difference to air leakage...

I'd say get the both serviced, monarch's don't have the greatest reputation for longevity, so keeping it going via a service is cheaper than buying anew shock. If your doing one you may as well do the other, would be my thinking on the fork..

Given the Monarch on my T130 has just gone for service after 15 months and less than 100 hours riding and the place servicing it have said there's wear on the stanchion I'd definitely get it serviced and the pike as well. Even with only using the bike a couple if times a month 2.5 years without a service is way too long. I'd get them both done or you'll likely be facing an expensive bill in future when stuff starts to wear, you never know, it might have started already and you'll be out of warranty and the prices for replacement CSU's and the like is not cheap...
