I've heard Glentress (or at least Peebles area) will feature too. Not sure if that will be for XC or MTB marathon (or both)

Yeah heard this recently from someone involved. Massive deal for Scotland, never been done before.

It might be shown on the BBC like it was last time at Fort bill, although last time the beebs coverage was utter garbage.

There are plenty of trails down there that would make for a good course. If they could manage infrastructure would Golfie be viable for DH? I'm not sure myself but stranger things have happened, it would probably need a lot of work on the trails (to say nothing for existing storm damage) as well as any potential finish area (which may tie into existing ambitions).

I can't imagine they'd look beyond Fort Bill for DH, it's a no brainer as it's ready to go. Any other venue would need significantly more investment to make it race ready.

A bit disappointing to see the road race location. I thought they might have taken the opportunity to spread things around a bit more. I guess the logistics of an "event village" come into play too though and that would include accommodation for competitors and teams.

I guess they could have accommodated the road race at Fort William as well if they'd wanted to be closer to the mountains, but I assume Glasgow is ponying up most of the money to the UCI to host.

There's 190 rainbow jerseys up for grabs? I had no idea there was so many. I could probably earn one of those if I decide on a discipline and start chilling out on the pizza and ice cream.

Commonwealth Games road race around Glasgow city centre was great fun.

The first lap - and the climb up Col de Montrose Street - was pure dead brilliant with lots of noise and atmosphere.

Pisser it rained all day and the kids got cold.
There was free travel on the trains too 🙂

No, me neither but it would be nice if somewhere else got a shot (nothing against Fort William!). Glencoe could work if they sorted the parking.

Mind you, that hotel won't be getting built for no reason.

I think there is a UCI rule (I haven't looked for a while) that anything above a Class One DH has to have a mechanical uplift. So we were able to put on iXS European Cups at Traquair Forest but could not have done a World Cup. Only two venues of which I am aware, Aonach Mor and Glencoe.

Ah, handy to know. Not enough time to install the mythical chair lift 😝

So what's classed as a Class One DH race? There are a handful of world cup venues where they use buses and trucks due to the lack of a lift. Can't remember them off the top of my head.

Thinking about 190 jerseys, that's 95 female/male then there must be quite a few age categories, are the masters part of this? It's maybe not as many events as it first seems.

Pietermaritzberg and La Bresse spring to mind. Probably Losinj too.

The World Champs was in SA as well.

Maybe they got special dispensation for Greg.

Pretty difficult to host the road race outside the major cities considering the number of national teams, plus officials etc all requiring accommodation.

I was thinking of Aberdeen being a good option.
