Hi guys,
Down Wollacombe next week with the mrs. Any rides very close by. Both decent off road and easy gentle paths I can take the Mrs on.
Cheers
Tom
you have the tarka trail between Braunton, Barnstaple and beyond which is a surfaced railway line along the estuary. If you want to ride out of Woolacombe and want gentle DO NOT RIDE UP CHALLACOMBE HILL!!! There is no easy climb, just less hard, Thre is a signpost for a cycle path at the road junction at the top of the climb out of woolacombe where you turn for Georgham. No real idea of where it goes other than i think it goes towards Ilfracombe???
I just the road bike down there when i go.
The lanes can be ok, depends on how many prats are on holiday!
Not much in the way of off road unless you head over to exmoor IMO.
Head down to Southfork in Braunton they will have a map.
I normally start in Braunton do they American road, climb up to the Saunton transmitter down into georgeham . Then there's a track by the side of The George pub which takes you to Puttsborough beach and the best view I've had from a bike seat. Nice bit of track brings you to woolacombe then its up a bloody big hill and then i muddle through pentiknowle woods.
There is stuff there get a map and explore.
There's a track behind Woolacombe beach that is easy with nice sea views. You can do a nice ride from there all the way to the mouth of the Taw with a bit of road and bit of track. It's a big climb to head inland. As above there is not much tech until you get to Exmoor

Or go rock pooling and snorkelling in Lee Bay.
Ps the tarka trail is fine for family riding and as a link to Barny but not a destination in itself.
pps Lee Bay is a world class skimming beach when the tides out.
