I like them. 34T on my SS, used it on a 1x set up for bikepacking also. Wear rate seems to be a little higher than a round but I think that's due to the shape not the material as other round BETD rings I have last well enough. On the ovals it's concentrated towards the 'ends' of the oval. Suggests (to me) that it does help put more torque out at those points relative to the rest of the pedal stroke or a round ring - feels like it as I notice my low-rev pedalling is less effective when I go back to a 32T round. Switched between the 2 from time to time so that anything I felt was less likely to be from being used to one or the other. Use 170-175mm cranks on various bikes without problems so I'm not one for riding an 'exact' set up.
Agree with post above, less benefit on a geared bike imo but I did use a wonkey 1x set up for a long multi-day ride last year, I hoped any efficiency gains and being used to it on the SS would minimise knee stress. In the end my knees were agony anyway but I'm not sure the ring shape really had anything to do with it.

My rotor q ring is slightly more hardwearing but it is nearly double the price. Running one bike on a round ring as a comparison and switch between the cranksets on it. It definitely feels better 2-3t bigger with an elliptical regardless of maker.

Matt page has got a good article on rotor elliptical rings and set up etc..

For me they are still a benefit on the single speed and definitely make thrutchy vomit inducing mauler climbs that bit more fluffy. With gears...dunno never tried such technical things as gear danglers

Tazzy, has the bolt hole design changed now? First ones I bought didn't have recessed chainring bolt holes, newer one has recesses on one side only. Prefer them same on both sides, makes reversing them easier with some bolt/crank tab combos.

33t here.
Has lasted well.
Never run gears on it.
Certainly makes a difference on the SS.
Smooths out the pedalling stroke.
