I'm planning to go to Woburn on the 30 th, and was wondering, can anyone suggest any routes? Or does any fancy showing a few of us around? There would be cake in it for you. I'm guessing it won't be the bog that wendover etc will be. Cheers
lyons
Possibly. I've been ill with a bad cough and not riden since the 13th so something social might be just the ticket.
With all the snow we've had there will be standing water and mud just about everywhere and anywhere.
Anyway happy to do it if I feel OK. Three things though, I'm old, I only do XC and where do you want to start?
pace@fsmail.net
Cheers, I've sent you an email...
Was up there today and a lot of it is suprisingly dry considering the amount of melted snow we've had.
cool, I was hoping that would be the case. A friend said that he has never seen ashridge as bad as it was on boxing day. And thats saying something, as weve been out in attrocious conditions. You're welcome to join us on wednesday if you want...
Cool, post up details of time and place once you've sorted it out with Carl (Oldgit) and I might just do that.
I might join you if that's ok? I have the week off this week and planned to get a couple rides in up at Woburn before the weekend. Depends on what time you go and what plans the Mrs has but I should be ok.
Might head over there this morning actually too...
Jase (the other one)
ThAt's confusing, there's 2 of you! And yeah that would be fine, ithink we are planning to meet at stockgrove park wherever that is, and time wise, I was thinking around 12...
12 never ridden that time, but that's fine. Only the parking might be a problem that time of day, not the end of the world though.
Be good to see you Jase and you Jase! you'll have to each put a big J1 & J2 on your lids so I don't get confused.
Bagsy being J1 ๐
lyons just sent mail.
Jase you ok for a ride then? I've been ill and not ridden since my last race on the 13th and my legs didn't work that day! so this sounds ideal.
Only problem is my sons got my mud tyres so I'm going to have to put up with some badly worn Racing Ralphs ๐
i'm coaching there on the 30th. say hi if you passby
I'm afraid I've got to go to Cambridge in the afternoon so I'm going to pass on this and get a couple hours in myself first thing in the morning up Aspley Heath instead so I can be home for midday-ish. Sorry chaps!
Can illness be passed on over the internet!!!!
I've been feeling rough for the past few days so very much doubt I'll be out but will decide for sure tomorrow.
I'm not gonna ride, still feeling like cr@p
Jedi, where are you likely to be doing your coaching as I'd like quick chat about coaching for my daughter?
Cheers
Ken
Jase we're meeting around 12.30 at the cafe, I assume it ain't dry no more!
Ken and Jedi might see you on the way through.
lyons, just about put a rideable route together. The thing that makes Woburn good all year round is the sandy ridge. However when you decend off the ridge you hit 'mud' which this time of year is difficult going both up and down. We'll do some though.
OK, sounds fine, we're all used to mud. I'd just better hope one of my friends has changed from his summer tyres to winterish one. He probably hasn't...
He'll be in good company, remind me to show you my bald 2005 Racing Ralphs ๐
oldgit....do you want me to put the CX forks in the boot for you to have a look at if we manage to cross paths at some point. I'll be there with my daughter starting about 11.30 ish from Aspley Heath
If it's not a problem ken.
Not a bad ride considering the conditions. Sorry I missed you Jedi and Ken, but we passed through pretty late on.
Glad the Ashridge guys thought it was OK, but come back when it's dry and we'll cram in some fast trails.
How you feeling jase my little poppet.
I wasn't there......My brain has gone to mush as I've been off since 24th and there's been lots of odd bank holidays. My internal calender was a day out I thought today was the 30th......what a dumbass ๐ณ
Thanks for showing us around oldgit really did enjoy it ๐
I second that... I think we will be going back soon, And let me know when you fancyheading up to ashridge...
Reminiscing now, but there used to be some great STW Woburn rides a few years ago ๐
Yep there were, some of the first STW group rides.Got some images around somewhere, all 63mm travel, sunset rims and stuff.
I'm at the back someweher, one of my first ever rides up Woburn.
Feeling a bit better today cheers, still not well enough to ride.
Perhaps tomorrow.............
blimey that was a while ago.
oldgit, do any of the original lot still ride ?
i remmeber the old stw woburn night rides too ๐
Hi guys, some good memories from old Wobes. I jacked in MTBing a few years back not long after I went self employed (no sick pay if I stacked!!!) Back into my music these days.

jeez lambchop. long time no see!
Still taking centre stage I hope Lambchop.
Sofaking, not that many nowadays. The old Buzzards lot are still going. Walt and plitts don't. I don't know what happened to MFG. Nick-No-Balance still does his in France now training. Pollys in there I think?
Ha, ha. So Walt and Plitts don't ride either? Have occasionally thought about dusting off the Tinbred but that's about it (thinking only), lol I've still got those rims you gave me Tony!!!
There's some nice tinware sat doing nothing. Between you and the other two that's;
Ti Inbred.

Did the Empire Strikes back for the first time in daylight yesterday and managed to thank the guy that cut it. How things have changed there over the last 25 years, we would have been flogged for doing such things back then.
Anyway managed to walk over the handlebars on the second drop 8)that's flat barred jey bikes for ya.
