Before I resort to calling Hope and/or letting the LBS take a look, I thought one of you lot might have some ideas...

I have a Hope Sport hub, which I believe is very much like the XC hub (2 x 6001 bearings in the freehub, 2 in the hub shell etc). I'm getting a lot of dish rub and when I look down on the rotating wheel on the disk side it looks like the axle is not central and I can see the flanges on the rotor mounts going in and out.

I thought it was a bent rotor at first so replaced that to no avail. I then worried it was something to do with the frame so tried a different wheel (same rotor) and that was fine. So definitely the hub then. Next up was a full strip down - twice - except for the internal bearing in the free hub. Still no joy (even with new bearings everywhere else).

The only other thing I can think is a duff axle. Anyone got any experience of this?

Never had a bent one as such, but they do snap after a period of time. Try rolling the axle on a piece of glass, you'll notice if it's bent.

Axle problems are quite commmon, worth taking it out & checking, although they do tend to snap rather than bent

I think if it is bent anywhere it will be on the thinner diameter part of the hub which is a bit difficult to check. A new axle is £12 or so; I reckon I might just give that a shot. Cheers
