I have some decent bib tights for when it's predictably cold but I would like some non bibs to keep in the car for when it's colder than I thought and I need an extra layer. Any suggestions?
gore - pricey but good - don't keep you dry though .
I don't own any but some of the Lusso bin tights have a non-bib option.
I've always found non-bib longs a complete failure as they work their way down too much.
I have some really light tights from 7mesh. Not for the really cold but small enough to shove in a pocket. <br /><br />
was glad for them yesterday as it was a lot fresher on the tops than I’d dressed for.
You can get tights without a pad which you can pull over your bib shorts. I'd not spend much if it was me.

Alpkit 'Koulin' tights? Available in full-length (with a short zip at the ankle) or in 3/4 length just below the knee. Thin, but seem quite warm to me, and work fine under a pair of baggies. Also roll up pretty small to be carried in a pack.
A pair of running tights, you can get Ron Hill tracksters for under £20.

Not sure why you can't keep a pair of decent bib tights in the car. That seems like the easiest solution.
DHB Flashlight Waist Tights are alright for me commuting in the winter. Don’t find they slip down particularly and they’re warm enough. But I dot nurse any thermal legs cycling at all.
I'm using some Montane power stretch leggings over my Lycra shorts when it's proper cold, really good. Baggies over top for wind and damp proofing

I much prefer non bib tights, however decent ones are hard to get.
Ive always found Gore to be uncomfortable. The best I had were some DHB running tights. They had a phone pocket on the back, zip legs and elasticated waste with a cord too.
I still use them but I lost the cord so they do now slip a little.DHB don’t make anything comparable at the moment
As above I wear non-bib unpadded tights over my regular padded bib shorts I have 2 pairs, Gore and Lusso = Gore have ankle zippers, Lusso have underfoot ankle straps and are water resistant. Both work great for me
These always come out well in the mag reviews. I’ve no experience of them to offer.
