With all this cold weather around, whats the single best and worst bit of kit you have (bought ages ago or recently) for biking in it?

For me,

Best - DHB Marsten (like roubaix) tights. Much warmer than Endura Singletrack trousers.

Worst - Overhsoes. Kinda work, but a pain to put on and off.

PRO branded thick black gloves.

Bought them from Sigma Sport years ago and still going strong.

I also like Sealskins socks.

Worst are Diadora Chili boots - warm in the dry and cold but useless in any wetness.

I have bought loads of shit good stuff. Leg warmers for £12 off ebay are awesome, as are the trekmates gloves I got from whinfields. I also got a £12 regatta raincoat that isnt breathable at all, it keeps me warmish though.

Best are Rab Generator Smock and some 2008 661 Storm Gloves
Worst Chiba Gloves, good size and lovely and warm but bloody things turn the insides out whenever you take them off and even worse when you wash them.

Best: a long sleeve merino top best in summer or winter. Buffs lots of em.
Worst: just about any waterproof, they all seem to make me boil in the bag.

Best - sealskinz maybe or otherwise my Endura winter gloves which are silly warm
Worst - overshoes though TBH if you use them offroad on anything technical, that's just silly.

best - enduro mt500 overshoes, been keeping my feet toasty warm the last few weeks (and dry too along with sealskinz and coolmax liners which were best product 2005/6 8) )

worst - new style camelpack mule i think. not a bad product at all, just the shape of it means it hits my helmet on steeper descents - not good!

@gazc

Had the same with Northface hammerhead. Pulled out the fibreglass rods and is now OK.

Best: Endura 3/4 thermastat bibs. Had them 6 years & still going strong.

Worst: Sealskinz gloves. Every time I took them off, the inner liner came out, then it would take ages to get the liners fingers back in. Binned them in the end.

Best- Endura strike gloves, and overshoes (would prefer some proper boots though)
Worst- synthetic base layers, because nobody likes a stinky boy at work!

Best: merino tops, buff, fleece headband, endura leg warmers.

Worst: Endura overshoes (lasted 2 rides), Sealskinz gloves (as waterproof as a damp sponge).

Best: Jersey from aldi, warm enough for me to have just that and 2 base layers in the Peaks on saturday.
Worst: Shimano AM40's, purely for the fact they are now too small 🙁 Great shoes when they fit though.

2 best things actually:
Specialized Radiant gloves and Schwalbe Snow Stud CX tyres.

Worst:
Not sure really - I'd say waterproof jackets as I've never found one that has all the features I want without being boil-in-the-bag. And pretty much every other set of winter gloves I've owned except the Radiants.

Best: Shimano MW80 boots, spesh submerge winter gloves with fleece liner. Buffs.
worst: lake winter boots, utterly utterly overpriced piles of dog toffee. I've had flip flops that kept my feet warmer and dryer.

Best: pretty much anything made by Gore, especially Windstopper products including the Windstopper Buff.

Worst: er, can't think of anything.

Edit: I love my Merino Sealskinz and can't understand the complaints.

Best - buff, endura skullcap, uvex clear glasses, woolie boolies

Best: Northwave Celcius boots. Awesome at their job, simply astounding. Honorary mention must also go to my excellent Endura windstopper gloves.

Worst: Crap stuff goes out pretty quickly but I did have some Giro winter gloves. They were very warm and waterproof but they had this liner stiched inside which turned inside out every time I tyook them off, it was a nightmare getting my fingers back in the holes.

Plus the finger ends wore out after a single winter.

For me good:
Aldi bike gloves and lewis kit running gloves
71% merino socks from costco
Free buff from mbuk
Altura Winter Cruisers
Shimano Am40 shoes

Bad
Spd shoes (only because they are too small so cannot keep my feet warm)

Best: Polaris winter bib - £10 brand new on t'bay!
Polaris wind/waterproof gloves
