Can a mod change this to the correct section, thanks!

Rather foolishly i changed my wipers on the car today, and the arm swung back and hit the windscreen. Left a 5p spider crack in the windscreen, checked the wording of the insurance but it just sayes windscreen damage or replace im guessing from stones attacking the screen etc, was thinking of claiming but its obviously where the metal arm would sit if the wiper wasn't on it!

Claim or not to claim? anyone know the cost of just buying the windscreen?? searched online but haven't found any prices.

Sounds like a stone flew up/down and chipped the screen.

They don't really care how it was done....you just report a chip on the windscreen and someone comes out and fixes it. Some insurers charge a tenner...

Mines £10 for a repair or £75 for the replacement windscreen! last time i claimed for glass was when someone stole my rear windscreen out of my metro back in the 90's

I would drop a hammer on the screen and pay the 75 rather than a shoddy repair

I just paid £75 for a new one after a stone cracked it just under the wiper blade.

Doesn't matter how the screen got damaged - I broke mine by squashing a mossie against it, and the insurance paid for it (after the autoglass technician had a good chuckle)

Just (weekend gone) had to have a new windscreen (through Autoglass).
Only cost was the specific windscreen excess (£70) on my insurance.
Only problem I had was that I had to wait a week for autoglass to get a Mondeo windscreen in stock - required some careful driving for a week!!
