Is XP now too old for an Intel I3 processor? I can't get it to install I get the blue screen and the STOP numbers.

if youre installing on a new HDD, check in the bios that your SATA settings are correct.

(i.e. switch between ATA and compatability mode)

I'm putting it onto a Hackintosh machine so SATA is set to ACHI, could this be the problem? It gets further when using a virtual machine to install but wants to replace the existing OS.

i3 should be fine with XP. Have you Googled the STOP error? It's more likely you've got a duff bit of RAM.

And what SP are you installing? As Stoner says, early SPs (not sure up to when) don't understand SATA.
