Will a normal front mech swap between a 24 36 44 permuation of ramped front rings comfortably? I normally use 24 34 44, Just wondered if the assembled had a view on this. Thanks in advance.
Should do - I run 22/36 on the tandem and put a 44 on it as well for touring. You only get two higher gears - one of which is only a tiny bit higher tho.
You might have to move the mech up a bit so the gate for the middle ring lines up correct.. and I think a conventional mech might work better than a low band coz of the way it moves up as it moves out, as opposed to moving over the top of an arc.
Should work no problem, the maximum difference you can normally run between two chainrings is 16T.
