[Closed] Will I notice a real difference between a 32 or 36 tooth rear cassette?

I've been out grinding up and down hills at Cannock today and the bike is currently a 1 x 10.

The rear is an 11-32 and it's pretty tough going up some of the hills even on the easy cog, would I notice a significant difference changing to an 11-36 cassette or should I consider adding the granny ring back on the front?

I'd be surprised if you didn't.

Yes, you'd notice the 10% difference, but you'd notice the 30-40% from a 2nd chainring more!

Just about managed on 32 front, 32 back on my solaris -enough to go to 36 when I went 10speed. 36 is better and I don't feel I need any 1-up stuff. Mind you, SS is fine around cannock!

If you don't then you might just have fluctuating levels of energy and enthusiasm.

Can you tell the difference between a 28t and the 32t?

Good one

If you bother changing gear then yes

Not sure which I enjoy more.

Threads about 1 chain ring and how to get a wider gear range

or threads about rigid bikes and reducing the pain of bumpy trails

Never thought of it like that. I'll swap the cassette and see how it goes.

Used to ride 32:16 and it was the perfect gear for the Chase including the cheek!
