As per the title, does anyone know if a 15mm Maxle from a set of Pike forks fit a Reba RL 29?
The 15mm Maxle Lite that came with my bike is a bit pants and the aluminium tangs keep bending when tightening/loosing the axle so I'm looking to replace it with something more robust prior to my trip the Alps in a few weeks.
Well I can confirm after breaking my Maxle Lite that the new revised (2014) Maxle Lite fitted to the new Pikes does indeed fit a set of 2013 Rebas, it is a direct replacement so will be compatible with all other Rockshox 15mm x 100mm axles.
The design is much better, instead of it being an expanding joint it is a standard quick release design which you adjust the tension of by how many times you screw axle into your forks and you can then quickly adjust the resting position of quick release lever by pushing in the lever and twisting it when it isn't fitted to a set of forks. It's a much more durable and easier to use design that isn't affected by how lubed it is and I can't see it breaking any time soon.
