Hello - as above, wondering if I buy one of the (seemingly many) Orange Patriots off fleabay for an Alps trip, will my rather plush 36s fit? I have no idea about all this headset and stuff malarkey.

Which model of patriot are you looking at getting,
the 66 has a 1 1/8 headtube so providing ur 36's have a 1 1/8 steerer than that will be fine
there is also the 7+ which has ore travel and has a 1.5 headtube so will fit any forks with the right headset fitted.
Found these from google, but you would be best to ask the buyer before you commit yourself. It will also depend on the steerer size on your forks.
