Anyone got one I can borrow for 5mins 🙂 or know of a shop in city centre who has one in their workshop?

Harry Hall on Whitworth Street might be able to do it. Bicycle Doctor in Rusholme may well be able to do it. Keep Pedaling (think that's what its called) in the Northern Quarter is also a possibility.

Cheers
I asked HH they said bring it in we'll have a go at it, while I appreciate the can do attitude I'm anxious they don't round it off using a normal 4peg tool.

Not heard of keep pedalling will give them a call. Bike doc's too far out for me.

Out of interest - does a standard BMX tool not work on these ?
Cannot remember having bought anything different for mine.

my standard one won't no, bit of googling said yeah they are a bit different, lockring gets in the way too, there's a few worrying cases of people rounding off the pegs on the freewheel body (most expensive part to replace)

cyclo ones apparently fit pretty well, mr bikemonger is currently out of stock tho. Will need to sort myself out something that does work for the future but right now I just want to swap it from my old wheel to the new one.

WI do one that fits perfectly (obviously) but they are >£30, if I had a couple of WIs on the go I'd probably get one but for just one, not sure.

If you take it to a shop or want to try a few different tools, removing the lockring does sometimes help.

Can't get the lockring off, dunno if this one was put on a bit tight or I've slightly deformed the lockring* trying to get the unit off with a normal 4peg tool 🙁 still works ok for now. Think I'll be bringing it in to your place at some point Tim, I presume you do servicing on them? Alsagers a bit far for just popping in to get it removed tho.

*I think I tried to remove the lockring at an earlier date, just to have a peek inside and couldn't, can't remember now tho.
