thinking of getting this on the cycle to work scheme I will be using it for commuting into the city centre so there are quite a few roads but on the way back there is clent hills for some singletrack action, any one have this bike ?
It got a 9/10 in MBR, if that helps.
bump
WMB have rated it as their top 'long forked' HT for the last coupe of years. At that price I 'd be interested to try the 19 Steel though.
Awesome bike. Clean looking and rides fast like a race bike but still good enough to ride trail centres and the like on. Recommended.
sounds good ! any one tried the steel version ? its only 100 pounds more
I loved the 905, rode the steel version last weekend too. Didn't feel quite as quick to accelerate or as easy to climb on, but I absolutely loved the feel of it. Really nice comfy frame, great handling too. Actually it was my favourite of the day until I tried the Titus El Guapo and I 'accidentally' bought that!
hi,
hummerlicious
I'm slightly confused by your last post?
I like the look of the 19 steel but slightly pricy for me.
Did you prefer the 905?
Cheers Iain
have rideen the 19 steel, carbon, ti, alloy, the 905 and the 901 (all in the same day last week, at work ๐ )
905 and 901 are excellent bikes. very capable, great on technical stuff, and happy to eat up the miles too. I've got a 901 and love it.
not much to pick between the 19 steel and the 905 - 905 has stiffer seat stays with less curvyness, and it is noticeably more comfy (or was after 40 odd miles of riding). 19 steel is BB30 though so worth considering whether this standard is here to stay or not.
As I said, All the Whyte hardtails ride brilliantly, IMO much nice than the Full suspension range, and a lot cheaper!
19 carbon however, is a very different beast - full on race machine. long, light, fast! (not very comfy though)
Hope that helps.
Sorry I typed it in a hurry.
I've ridden both, I've ridden the aluminium one several times. It's really capable, flies uphill and dispatches the singletrack easily, but for me the steel one just felt like it had that extra something. It did feel a little more comfy too. If I had to choose between the two I'd definitely opt for the steel I think.
19 carbon however, is a very different beast - full on race machine. long, light, fast! (not very comfy though)
My 19 Carbon is much more comfortable over any distance than my 19 alloy.
