Hi

Looking at getting my first bike in a good few years, mainly going to used for fitness, light/medium trails and out with the kids and dog.

Been putting if off looking for a good deal and missed out on a few, my youngest will be on his first MTB from Jan so good a time as any.

Looking for some help to decide on these two, main difference is 27.5 v 29 but apart from that and the fact 529 looks nicer, is 2020 bike is there a huge difference, both are obviously capable of doing what I need.

Whyte 805 2019 (I have sourced this for £640)

Whyte 529 2020 (I have sourced for £875)

Totally personal preference on the wheel size debate to be fair, as they're near enough identical spec and RRP. Until I closed my shop recently, I used to sell Whyte, and these sub £1k hardtails were very popular. My personal preference would be the 529 as I prefer 29er wheels, but you won't go wrong with either as they're both superb bikes.

Cant say I have a preference in 27.5 or 29 tbh, they are closely matched at RRP £999 however the price difference on offer is £235, I did look for a 529 2018 but cant source one in Large

Hi

Was looking at the sale prices just now and cannondale trail 4 2020 popped up at a good price.

What’s the best of the cannondale or Whyte below for the current price or does the voodoo seem the better option?

Bike will be used for out with my younger kids, exercising, light to medium local trails.

Budget wise I’ll go to £799 but obviously £550 Mark is a better option 🙂

Cannondale Trail 4 2020 coming in at £560 just now usually £700

Whyte 528 £999 but have seen for £799

Voodoo Bizango £550 down from £725

Thanks

Bizango, best spec for the best price. I don't think you need look any further, its perfect for your requirements and a bargain at that price.

Go sling a leg over one in a local Halfords?

I’d go for the Whyte. I own a 909 which has been good for the trail centres I ride on. Do decathlon do any good hardtails?

Hi

@dumbbot I've had a look at halfords and it is a nice bike but I wasnt sold on it.

@tails Whyte is preference but with the deals on Cannondale and Voodoo it could be an option for one of those.

The Cannondale Trail 4 at the £560 price is the bike good for the price

Yeah it’s a good bike, just the Whyte is a bit better. The frame is especially good.

What size are you after. I got one of these XL from Swinnerton Cycles for £535.

Winstanley have some in stock.

I’d be looking at large

Orange clockwork 27.5 is also showing at £750 for 2019 model

As much as I want the Whyte think the Cannondale will be fine for the money

I’ve got a 529 and love it, only the frame and wheels are original but it is a great bike that you can upgrade later if you wish.
