My front hub has developed some play...anyone know how to remove the bearing for a service.

What's the hub?
Maxle/whyte comment aren't much of a clue, unless if branded "whyte"..

it branded Whyte and is 20mm

I don't know specifically about these hubs but no one else is commenting so.. [b]usually, & assuming they have cartridge bearings[/b] with 20mm hubs, you pull the end caps off, though they might a circlip retaining them (should be obvious).
You should now be able to see the external faces of the two bearings, with a central bearing spacer tube (make sure there no further circlips holding the bearings in). You will be able to push the spacer tube to one side to get to the inner race of the bearing, use a suitable drift to knock out the first bearing (either side), the central spacer will fall out and you can geto the other bearing. Repeat the process in the opposite order to fit the new bearings - the old bearings will have there size marked on them.
