So ... 5 pages of people telling me my old bike is worth 500 and now whEn I've sold it for just under what I wanted none of the haters have replied.
I've come to expect nothing more from this place.
No one likes a smart arse, but....
However...the price the 'bike experts' tell you it is worth on STW, will be much lower than what you might get from a non-expert on ebay if you are patient and advertise it right. I've sold a few old bikes on ebay with reserve prices (£750-1000) that would be deemed ridiculous on here, always to non-bike experts (either new to the sport, or getting back into it). All have been happy with their purchase, so it's not like they have been fleeced. I've often had to be patient, re-list them a few times, and decline low offers. As others have mentioned, it's not the best time of year to be trying to find that type of buyer.

I don't think they're haters or dislike you... people just felt you needed to accept less... your less was more than they expected... that doesn't make them wrong and you right,.. you did well... accept it and move on... there's no conspiracy theory against you 🙂

I think you need to decide which it is - let it go for less than you think it's worth or hang on to it.
Truth is they all knew it was worth £900 but wanted you to sell for £500 so they could buy it off you and sell for a healthy profit. Undercover traders the lot of em. 🙂

I'm glad you got a price that was acceptable to you Renton, but what's happened here is not that you've proved anyone wrong, it's that someone local has just paid over the odds for your bike, as long as the end result is that buyer and seller are happy though that's all that matters.
Now go and spend that money on a new toy quick sharp! 😀
One thing I have learnt from this is identifying people who I probably wouldn't sell to/ buy from...
To be fair I think the point being made was that it was not selling at the price you expected you would have to lower the price, which you did in the end.
It was always worth more then £500 but, again, the point was if you'd offered it at that (or £600/700 maybe even 800) you'd sell it quickly, hence answering your original question 'why isn't it selling'.
It carried on for so many pages because you asked a question that you then ignored the answer for.
